Chocolate Crepe Souffle

Two dessert items were also sampled. The Chocolate Crepe Souffle arrived in a warm folded crepe. The baked flourless chocolate and raspberries were accompanied by raspberry coulis and whipped cream.


“Mickey�?-shaped Beignets

Ensuring that no one forget that “it all started with a mouse,�? Mickey-shaped Beignets were also offered. The generous portion was light and crispy, and liberally dusted with confectioners sugar. Both raspberry coulis and vanilla crème anglaise are served with the beignets.

Also on the menu are the following.

Starters: French Onion Soup, a sautéed sweet onion medley with melted Gruyere cheese; New Orleans Gumbo, a stew of chicken, andouille sausage and tasso ham served with Cajun-style “dirty rice;�? and La Salade de Maison, their signature house salad, a combination of baby greens tossed in raspberry vinaigrette, with cherry tomatoes, crumbled goat cheese and carmelized pecans.

Entrees: “The Big Easy�? Shrimp Salad, skewered and grilled jumbo shrimp, served atop a wedge of lettuce with asparagus, tomato, avocado, aged prosciutto and shaved Parmesan, tossed in a lemon-herb vinaigrette; and the French Quarter Blackened Chicken Caesar, made with romaine hearts tossed in traditional Caesar dressing and topped with blackened chicken and shaved Parmesan.

Two crepes, made to order, are also on the menu. The Chicken Gumbo Crepe is filled with sautéed chicken, andouille sausage, tasso ham and Creole Gumbo sauce. The Seafood Herb Crepe features a Mornay sauce, shaved Parmesan and mozzarella. Both crepes are accompanied by buttered asparagus and fingerling potatoes.

Three entrees are offered on the kid’s menu: Mickey’s Cheesy Macaroni, Citrus Chicken Drumettes served atop rice noodles and marinara sauce, and the PB&J Monte Cristo. Each meal includes seasonal fruit and choice of beverage.

Prices range from 3.99 for starters to 15.99 for certain entrees. Kid’s menu items are 6.99. There is a split plate charge of 4.00 for entrees.

Café Orleans is scheduled to open open June 25. Reservations are available on line and by phone. Standby guests will be seated as available. The Café is open for lunch and dinner.
