Saturday, March 17 was the black-tie Thea Awards Gala in the Disneyland Hotel Grand Ballroom. The reception, networking, and silent auction began at 5:00 p.m. Dinner was at 6:30, with the awards presentation starting at 7:10. Dessert & coffee, backslapping and more handshakes, followed. Executive producer is Ron Miziker and his team put together quite the show.

To enter the reception, attendees walked a red carpet complete with cheering fans.

Once in the reception area, in addition to mingling, attendees could make bids on a silent auction benefitting the TEA Foundation, a nonprofit educational foundation formed last year. Aside from artwork, some of the auction items included these separate experiences with TEA Lifetime Achievement honorees:

  • Lunch with Disney Legend Marty Sklar
  • Dinner with Disney Legend Bob Gurr
  • A visit & tour of Walt Disney Imagineering with Tony Baxter, and lunch with Tony at the Rotunda, the private executive dining room at The Walt Disney Studios.
