Kevin Feige Reveals Future Marvel Details in AMAA, Including the Return of a Memorable Villain

Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, held an AMAA (Ask Me ‘Almost’ Anything) on Reddit last night, much to the delight of many knowledge-hungry fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The producer revealed some very interesting bits of information regarding the future of the MCU.

  • Probably the most interesting information Feige revealed involves the return of a villain we’ve seen previously in the MCU.
  • When a Redditor asked if Marvel had any plans to “incorporate the Ten Rings from the first Iron Man, or the ‘real’ Mandarin” in the future, Feige simply replied “Yes.”

  • The “real” Mandarin in question was teased in the Marvel One-Shot All Hail the King and played by Ben Kingsley.
  • The short followed Iron Man 3, which drastically changed the iconic comic book villain.
  • Other Redditors pointed out that the return of the villain could be tied to the upcoming Shang-Chi movie.
  • Feige was also asked about the upcoming Marvel series headed to Disney+ and how connected they would be to the movies.
  • Feige’s response explained that they would “totally and completely” weave into the films.
  • The Marvel series currently confirmed for Disney+ include:
    • Falcon and Winter Soldier
    • WandaVision
    • Loki
  • This may not come as much of a surprise, but fans of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Marvel Netflix series will be happy to hear this after years of Marvel TV barely connecting to the MCU.
  • Feige also shared a couple of interesting tidbits regarding the Hulk.
  • He explained that Marvel Studios had a meeting with Mark Ruffalo several years ago to discuss some ideas he had for the character.
  • Feige went on to reveal that some of those idea made it to screen in Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame while some other ideas “would still be cool to see someday,” teasing an interesting future for the Hulk in the MCU.
  • He was also asked about actor Martin Starr’s presence in both The Incredible Hulk and Spider-Man: Homecoming.
  • When asked if we should assume that Starr is portraying the same character in both films, Feige simply said “I do.”
  • Starr will also appear in Spider-Man: Far From Home, which swings into theaters July 2.
