Disneyland Adventures is the best way to recapture the magic of a Disney theme park in your living room. Released with the XBOX 360 Kinect, Disneyland Adventures lets anyone experience the fun and adventure of exploring the world’s most famous theme park.

You start by customizing your own avatar and begin your journey at the front gate. Meeting up with Mickey you get your instructions and begin your trip through Disneyland Park. With this being a Kinect game you are not just button mashing, but you have to move to make your character move in the game. It really feels like you are walking the streets of Disneyland.

Passing down Main Street and heading towards Sleeping Beauty Castle, the sounds of the park with the accompanying chatter of visitors and the background music, and the distant sounds of guests on the attractions convince you that you are in Southern California.

Every step you take into Disneyland you can meet the hero’s and villains of Disney stories. When you walk up to each character you can take a souvenir photo, hug them, or collect their autograph. As you travel throughout the game, different characters will give you mini quests to complete for rewards. These quests, the main ones and mini ones take you throughout the park requiring you to ride the attractions and complete tasks that are essential to finishing the game.

The main attractions of the Disneyland Park are all accessible but the in game experience is different than the reality. The attractions in the game are more game focused with players trying to complete levels. For example on the Matterhorn players are trying to rescue Goofy from Yetis via a snowball fight. This does not happen on the real thing.

What makes this game so enjoyable and should appeal to any Disney fanatic is the open world concept. Players can avoid all the quests, and just explore. Many popular video games like Grand Theft Auto have a massive open world concept, and though Disneyland Adventures is smaller than that, it could still fill many hours of a family activity night or one gamer’s plans.

If you wanted to surprise a loved one with a fun easy to play game that may bring back some fond childhood memories for the older members of your list, the XBOX 360 game DuckTales: Remastered is your answer This is by no means a complicated game. A lot of similarities from the original Nintendo game of the early 90’s can be found in this new game. The game is focused on a variety of levels that will have the gamer defending the McDuck money bin or traveling to the deepest part of a far off jungle in search of treasure. For me the most exciting aspect of the game was that I got to relive a moment of joy from my childhood.

I loved the DuckTales cartoon. Who didn’t dream about being Scrooge McDuck and having their own money bin with acres of cash? The original Nintendo game did not have the advanced graphics of today’s console systems. You spent the whole game trying to defeat the enemies of Scrooge like the Beagle Boys, while acquiring more money for the money bin. Playing DuckTales: Remastered brought me back to my childhood for a few moments, and that was a great thing.

I don’t recommend this game for the hardcore gamers who eat and breathe Call of Duty. But DuckTales: Remastered would be a fun game for your child or for that kid at heart.

If you were still in need of a gift, Disneyland Adventures and DuckTales: Remastered would be a great treat for any Disney fan of any age.
