Marvel Reportedly Developing “Hawkeye” Spinoff Series Focused on Echo

We are still at least about six months out from seeing Marvel’s Hawkeye series on Disney+ and it appears they may already be working on a spinoff. A series focused on the popular hero known as Echo is reportedly in development, according to Variety.

  • Alaqua Cox, who joined the cast of Hawkeye back in December, will portray the hero first in that series before getting her own.
  • The Echo series is reportedly in the early stages of development for Disney+.
  • Etan Cohen and Emily Cohen are on to executive produce and write the script for the new superhero series and the writers’ room was recently assembled.
  • Marvel has not yet issued a comment on the news of this new series.
  • Maya Lopez, also known as Echo, is a deaf Native American hero with the ability to copy another person’s movements or fighting style.
  • In the comics, she holds the title of Ronin before passing it to Clint Barton, which points to her maybe having a relationship with Barton prior to the events of Avengers: Endgame.

More on Hawkeye:

  • Renner is of course set to reprise his role as Clint Barton, better known as Hawkeye, the non-superpowered superhero who has fought alongside the Avengers over the course of four movies.
  • Marvel also tapped writer Jonathan Igla, known for his work on AMC’s Mad Men, to pen the series while Rhys Thomas and Bert & Bertie serve as directors

The cast:

  • Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton
  • Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop
  • Vera Farmiga as Eleanor Bishop
  • Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova
  • Fra Fee as Kazi
  • Tony Dalton as Jack Duquesne
  • Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez
  • Zahn McClarnon as William Lopez
