Book Review – Elena of Avalor: Feliz Navidad – A Royal Christmas

elena-of-avalor-feliz-navidadElena of Avalor will be getting into the Christmas spirit this winter with an episode called “Navidad.” But kids and families can celebrate the spirit of Navidad anytime with a new children’s book based on the forthcoming episode, Elena of Avalor: Feliz Navidad – A Royal Christmas.

Navidad is one of Elena’s favorite times of the year, but she feels pulled in every direction as her family and kingdom want to spend time with her. When she decides to have a celebration where everyone can be together, greedy Doña Paloma decides to make the town’s parade into a competition. Elena will have to show her kingdom that Navidad is not about money and gifts, but about spending time with family and loved ones.

I love the way Elena of Avalor represents and embraces Hispanic culture. I hope Navidad is just the first step and that we see other customs and celebrations as part of the series. This book is a great way to teach kids how other cultures celebrate the same holidays we do.

Elena of Avalor: Feliz Navidad – A Royal Christmas makes a perfect gift, with a first page that even allows the giver to write an inscription to the child it was purchased for. It’s a great way to widen your child’s world by using characters they already know and love.
