Freeform Picks Up Series “Everything’s Trash” From Writer and Actress Phoebe Robinson

Comedian, actress, and writer Phoebe Robinson is adapting her book Everything’s Trash, But It’s Okay into a comedy series for Freeform. The network announced a series pickup for Everything’s Trash and revealed the lead cast.  

What’s Happening:

  • Freeform is ready to bring some new life to the network and has ordered the half-hour comedy Everything’s Trash to series.
  • The show hails from Phoebe Robinson (2 Dope Queens, Portlandia) and Jonathan Groff (Black-ish, Happy Endings).
  • In addition to serving as executive producer and writer, Robinson will also star in the series which is inspired by her bestselling book Everything’s Trash, But It’s Okay.
  • Robinson’s production company, Tiny Reparations, led by Jose Acevedo, will serve as non-writing executive producer.
  • Chioke Nassor will direct and serve as co-executive producer.
  • The series is produced by ABC Signature.

Synopsis:

  • “The series follows Phoebe, a 30-something podcast star navigating her messy life. Forced to grow up when her older brother Jayden emerges as a leading political candidate, she relies on her friends and close-knit family to help her figure out adulthood.”

Everything’s Trash Cast:

In addition to Robinson, the show stars:

  • Jordan Carlos (First Wives Club) as Jayden, Phoebe’s extremely intelligent, Blerd-y older brother with big dreams for his community, who has recently emerged as a leading political candidate.
  • Toccarra Cash (Station 19, Younger) will portray Malika, Phoebe’s savvy, smart and beautiful “code-switch queen” podcast producer.
  • Nneka Okafor (God Friended Me) will portray Jessie, Phoebe’s sister-in-law, who’s a former socialite-turned-feminist and college professor.
  • Moses Storm (Sunnyside) will portray Michael, Phoebe’s BFF, roommate and friend since freshman year of college.
