Guardians of the Galaxy Attraction - Project Tracker (Walt Disney World)

Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket. and Groot will have you twisting and spinning on a high speed roller coaster as you cruise through the galaxy. Just what your adventure will bring remains a mystery, but one thing’s for certain, it’s going to be out of this world!

Disney first shared the news about the upcoming attraction at the 2017 D23 Expo in Anaheim, California. The Disney Parks Blog shared, “Epcot’s brand new E-ticket attraction will be based on the rockin’ and action-packed world of “Guardians of the Galaxy” and is the next step in how guests can encounter these characters at the Walt Disney World Resort.” To pull guests into the story, and to make things just a bit sillier, Disney also shared a picture of Peter Quill (aka Star-Lord) from his visit to Epcot as a kid.

At this year’s D23 Destination D event, more exciting details were revealed about the roller coaster, including concept art for the ride vehicles for which Disney had recently filed a patent. The individual cars will be able to rotate and swivel on the coaster track pointing riders in the best direction to tell the most exciting story possible.

This new attraction replaces what was Universe of Energy — Ellen’s Energy Adventure, and is expected to open in 2021 for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary.
