Disney+ Shares Deleted Graduation Scene from “Monsters At Work”

Disney+ has shared a deleted scene from the popular new animated series, Monsters At Work, featuring Tylor Tuskmon giving a speech at his graduation from Monsters University, helping set up (but evidently proving redundant) the story of his arrival at Monsters, Inc.

What’s Happening:

  • Disney+ has shared a deleted scene from the new series from Pixar and Disney Television Animation, Monsters At Work, featuring the graduation of the main character of the series, Tylor Tuskmon, from Monsters University.
  • In the scene, we see Tylor giving a speech at his graduation ceremony, and introduces us to fellow students who are referred to in dialogue (so far) later in the series, as well as his parents, one of which (Bernard) sounds a lot like Pixar good luck charm John Ratzenberger (who has yet to appear in the series at all outside of this scene, even though he is known more as the Abominable Snowman in the Monsters, Inc. universe. It should be noted though that show credits reveal that he may be appearing as both characters.
  • While it is not confirmed where this scene would have been, based on what we’ve seen of the series so far (only up to Episode 3 has debuted on Disney+ as of press time), this would likely have been seen in the first episode of the series, either  in conjunction with or in place of the scene where we see Tylor get offered a job at Monsters, Incorporated as a scarer. In that same first episode, we see him take the job, arriving at the company the first day after the events of Monsters, Inc. when the operation has changed from collecting scream to collecting laugh energy, making his college education moot.

  • Monsters at Work takes place the day after the Monsters, Incorporated power plant started harvesting the laughter of children to fuel the city of Monstropolis, thanks to Mike and Sulley's discovery that laughter generates ten times more energy than screams. It follows the story of Tylor Tuskmon, an eager young monster who graduated top of his class at Monsters University and always dreamed of becoming a Scarer until he lands a job at Monsters, Incorporated, and discovers that scaring is out and laughter is in. After Tylor is temporarily reassigned to the Monsters, Inc. Facilities Team (MIFT), he must work alongside a misfit bunch of mechanics while setting his sights on becoming a Jokester.
  • In addition to Billy Crystal, John Goodman, and Bonnie Hunt, returning cast members from the original movies include Jennifer Tilly as Celia Mae, and Bob Peterson as Roze, sister to his original Monsters, Inc. character, Roz.
