Disney Channel has announced that their new show Muppet Babies will officially premiere on Friday, March 23rd with two back-to-back episodes on Disney Channel (10:00 a.m. EDT) and in the DisneyNOW app. Muppet Babies will be part of the Disney Junior lineup which features shows geared towards children 2 to 7 years of age. The show will revisit the animated TV classic from the mid-eighties/early nineties and center around favorite characters, Kermit, Miss Piggy, Animal, and Gonzo. Viewers will also be introduced to Summer Penguin a new Muppet created for the show. Along with the computer animation update, Muppet Babies will feature a new take on the original theme song performed by Hamilton actress Renee Elise Goldsberry. The series’ soundtrack featuring the theme song and additional songs from the series will be released digitally by Walt Disney Records tomorrow, Friday, February 23.
