Live-Action “Nautilus” Series Reportedly Coming to Disney+, Leads Announced for 2 Star Original Series

A live-action series based on the classic Jules Verne novel 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea will reportedly be coming to Disney+. Additionally, the leads were announced for two Star original series, according to Variety.

  • Nautilus will be a 10-part series that will explore the origin of Captain Nemo and his legendary submarine, The Nautilus, told from his point of view.
  • “An Indian prince robbed of his birth right and family and a prisoner of the East India Company, Nemo is bent on revenge against the forces which have taken everything from him. Once he sets sail with his ragtag crew on board the technologically advanced submarine Nautilus, he battles with his enemy and also discovers a magical underwater world.” (from Variety)
  • Nautilus will be produced by Moonriver TV and Seven Stories, two British production companies.
  • The series is written and executive produced by James Dormer.
  • Moonriver TV’s Xavier Marchand and Seven Stories’ Anand Tucker developed and co-produced the series while Johanna Devereaux executive produced for Disney.
  • Filming is set to begin in early 2022.

Culprits:

  • Nathan Stewart-Jarrett will star in the series Culprits, a dark and funny heist series from executive producer Stephen Garrett and filmmaker J. Blakeson.
  • The series is set in the aftermath of a heist and follows the crew who have gone their separate ways, but are being targeted by a killer.
  • Culprits comes from Character 7 and is executive produced by Garrett and produced by Morenike Williams.

Wedding Season:

  • Rosa Salazar will star in Wedding Season, an eight-episode romantic comedy action thriller.
  • The series follows two people who shouldn’t be together, but who can’t stay away from one another.
  • Wedding Season will begin production later this month and will be shooting in Scotland, Manchester, London and Las Vegas.
  • The series is produced by Dancing Ledge Productions and Chris Carey, Laurence Bowen and Toby Bruce serve as executive producers.
  • It is written by Oliver Lyttelton with George Kane serving as director.
