Guillermo del Toro’s “Nightmare Alley” Delayed Two Weeks, New Release Date December 17th

Searchlight Pictures announced on Twitter that the theatrical release date of Nightmare Alley has been pushed back two weeks, now releasing on December 17th, 2021.

What’s Happening:

  • Guillermo del Toro fans will have to wait two additional weeks to see the filmmaker’s next project, Nightmare Alley.
  • Originally planned for release on December 3rd, Searchlight Pictures revealed on Twitter that the film has been pushed to December 17th.
  • No reason was given for the delay and we learned on December 14th, 2020 that principal photography had wrapped.
  • Nightmare Alley is based on the 1946 book by William Lindsay Gresham, which was previously adapted as a film by 20th Century Fox in 1947 starring Tyrone Power.
  • Guillermo del Toro’s version of the film features an all-star cast including Bradley Cooper, Cate Blanchett, Willem Dafoe, Toni Collette and Rooney Mara.
  • The film follows a young carny, Stanton Carlisle, who uses the art of manipulation to take advantage of others but ends up tragically falling for the same act.
