Hulu Renews “Shrill” for a Second Season

Hulu has reportedly renewed the recently-released comedy series Shrill for a second season, according to Variety.

  • The series, which stars Saturday Night Live’s Aidy Bryant, will return to Hulu in 2020 for a second season.
  • Season two will be expanded from six episodes to eight.
  • Shrill focuses on Annie, “a fat young woman who wants to change her life — but not her body. Annie is trying to start her career while juggling bad boyfriends, a sick parent, and a perfectionist boss,” per an official Hulu synopsis.
  • The first season, which debuted on March 15, also starred Lolly Adefope, Luka Jones, Ian Owens, and John Cameron Mitchell.
  • Shrill is executive produced by Lorne Michaels and Elizabeth Banks.
  • The series is written by Bryant, Lindy West, and Alexandra Rushfield and based on a memoir by West titled “Shrill: Notes From a Loud Woman.”
