Pixar Increases Visibility of Asian Characters by Releasing “Float” and “Wind” on YouTube to Help Fight Anti-Asian Violence

Pixar Animation Studios has released two of their Disney+ Original SparkShorts projects on YouTube that feature lead Asian characters in an effort to promote inclusion during a time of Anti-Asian hate.

What’s Happening:

  • Previously exclusive to Disney+, Pixar Animation Studios has released the SparkShorts films Float and Wind on YouTube.
  • In the description for both shorts, available for the first time to stream outside of Disney+, Pixar explains that they wanted to increase exposure to these films with Asian characters in an effort to help promote inclusion everywhere.
  • This move comes in the wake of incidents of Anti-Asian violence, with several top news stories surrounding hate crimes in San Francisco and New York City.
