Bob Iger, George Lucas and “Star Wars” Stars Celebrate the Opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Last night was a truly magical one in Disneyland as the park celebrated the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. To celebrate the occasion, Disney CEO Bob Iger welcomed some very special guests for a grand opening ceremony.

  • Iger invited Star Wars creator George Lucas and stars Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), and Harrison Ford (Han Solo) to the stage with him to officially open Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
  • The group gathered in front of the Millennium Falcon for a ceremony that included Han Solo fixing the iconic ship and an explosive pyrotechnics display.
  • The ceremony was also set to the soaring John Williams score composed especially for the land.

What they’re saying:

  • Bob Iger: “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is absolutely amazing and we are thrilled to finally share it with the world. Now, for the first time, fans will be able to immerse themselves in the iconic stories that have captured audiences’ imaginations for decades and live their own Star Wars adventures in the most creative, innovative and ambitious land we’ve ever built.”
