Walt Disney Studios Announces Film Release Schedule Including Fox Studios Releases

Walt Disney Studios has announced their film release schedule, including the recently acquired Fox film studio, for everything currently slated from now through 2027.

  • On of the most notable things on the schedule is a lack of Star Wars films in 2020 and 2021. This means that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will be the last Star Wars film we see until December 2022.
  • Interestingly enough, Star Wars and Avatar films will alternate years, with Avatar 2,3,4 and 5 set to release on odd-numbered years beginning in 2021 while currently untitled Star Wars films will release in even-numbered years starting in 2022.
  • As far as changes made to this year’s schedule, Artemis Fowl was pushed back from August all the way to May 2020.
  • Fox’s X-Men spinoff New Mutants was also pushed back from August to April 2020 while Gambit was removed from the schedule altogether.
  • While we’re on the Marvel front, after Spider-Man: Far From Home closes out phase 3 of the MCU, we won’t see the next installment until May 1, 2020.
  • There will only be two MCU films in 2020, but 2021 and 2022 will each see three films from the popular franchise.
