Three New Marvel Series, Return of “Lizzie McGuire” and Much More Announced for Disney+ at D23 Expo

D23 Expo 2019 kicked off today and the biggest event of the day was the Disney+ Showcase in Hall D23. During the panel, Disney shared some news about just what we can expect to see when the new streaming service launches in November. They also revealed a trailer for everything coming.

  • First off, Disney announced the complete Pixar library will be available on Disney+ at launch while the entire catalog of animated classics from the Disney vault will be available within year one.
  • The next big announcement was that Hillary Duff will be returning as Lizzie McGuire for a brand new series.

  • The previously announced Phineas and Ferb movie was given a title, Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe, and a logo.

  • A poster was also revealed for Monsters at Work, the spinoff series from the hit Pixar film Monsters University, which will feature two new monsters named Tylor and Millie.

  • We also got a new poster for Forky Asks a Question, the new series based on the fan-favorite character from Toy Story 4.

  • Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige took the stage to talk about some of the exciting Marvel content coming to Disney+.
  • The biggest news to come from this showcase was the announcement of three new Marvel series: Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight and She-Hulk.

  • No further information was given for these new series just yet.
  • We also got a look at Marvel’s animated series What If?, featuring Peggy Carter as Captain Carter and Steve Rogers in some kind of Iron Man-type suit.
  • We then got some news on Loki, which will be a total of six hours and will launch off of the events of Avengers: Endgame.
  • MCU stars Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan took the stage to talk about The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, during which we learned they will be joined by the returning Sharon Carter (played by Emily VanCamp) and newcomer John Walker, also known as U.S. Agent (to be played by Wyatt Russell).
  • Next, we learned that Kat Dennings will reprise her role as Darcy from the first two Thor movies for the new series WandaVision, which will of course follow the Scarlet Witch and Vision.
  • After all the Marvel excitement, a trailer was revealed for The World According to Jeff Goldblum.

  • Next, we got a trailer for Krisent Bell’s Encore!, a new series that will reunite former classmates and cast members of a high school musical.

  • A trailer was also released for Noelle, a new original Christmas movie starring Anna Kendrick.

  • The true stars of the upcoming live-action remake of Lady and the Tramp also took the stage (if it wasn’t clear, I’m talking about the actual dogs). The trailer for the new film was then revealed.

  • Muppets Now was also announced to be coming to Disney+ in 2020. This new short-form series will be totally unscripted.

  • Kathleen Kennedy, President of Lucasfilm, then took the stage to announce that all of Star Wars will be available on Disney+.

  • The new season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars was announced to hit the streaming service in February 2020.

  • The trailer for the highly-anticipated  Star Wars series The Mandalorian was the next big reveal.

  • Then, just to add even more excitement to the whole showcase, Kennedy was joined on stage by Ewan McGregor to announce a new Obi-Wan Kenobi series.
