“Toy Story 4” LEGO Sets Reportedly Coming This Summer

Yee-haw! The toys from Andy’s room are coming back in a big way this year. Not only are they starring in their fourth feature-length big-screen outing Toy Story 4, but now it appears they are returning to LEGO form for another collection of sets from the very popular building block manufacturer.

The excellent (though unofficial) LEGO news website The Brick Fan tracked down some 2019 European LEGO catalogs, and within their pages they found advertisements promoting upcoming sets based on Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story 4 in LEGO’s 4+ and DUPLO younger-age series. This will not be the first time Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and friends have appeared in their own LEGO sets, but it will be exciting to see the characters available again in minifigure form, along with whichever locations and scenarios from the new movie are represented with them.

Between 2009 and 2010, a number of Toy Story and Toy Story 3 building sets were released by LEGO as a tie-in with the release of the third movie that summer, including Western Train Chase, Woody’s Roundup!, Garbage Truck Getaway, Trash Compactor Escape, Buzz’s Star Command Spaceship, Pizza Planet Truck Rescue, and Lotso’s Dump Truck. Minifigures themed to the series included Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Alien, Green Army Man, Jessie, Bullseye, Hamm, Rex, Stinky Pete, Lotso, and Zurg. Buzz and the Alien were also released as part of the LEGO Disney Minifigures collection in 2016.

Obviously, as we know very little about the plot of Toy Story 4, it’s very difficult to predict which elements and characters will be included in these sets. Naturally we’d love to see all the regulars depicted, but it would be cool to get new characters like Ducky, Bunny, and Forky as well. Also note the Disney Junior Minnie and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse sets coming out in time to celebrate the World’s Biggest Mouse Party this year.

Toy Story 4 will be released on Friday, June 21. The LEGO sets tied into the movie should start appearing in store around the beginning of May.
