Walt Disney World president Meg Crofton described how volunteering in Miami reminded her "how great volunteering can make a person feel" and that the ticket to Disney was "icing on the cake"

Also new over the past year, The American Idol Experience enables guests to "cheer the stars" and be the stars. Ms. Crofton shared the story of a young autistic competitor, Matt. After he sailed through the initial audition, he was cautioned by the one of the attraction's cast members that only 10% make the finale. Matt responded, "if you don't dream where you would be". Various winners of the American Idol Experience who received the "golden ticket" have gone on to be a part of the televised competiton.
