The atmosphere is amazing and the service is usually very good. I'm disappointed in the current menu offerings and prices.

Another great lunch at the Blue Bayou. Of course I had the Monte Cristo; my wife had the salmon. Both meals were excellent. We got 11:00am reservations on line nearly two months before we arrived; confirmed them on the day of our lunch; asked for a table "on the water" (by the rail) and had no problems and no wait. Service was equally as good as the atmosphere. A "must do" even if the prices are a little high. Just think how much the atmosphere is worth and you won't mind at all. Right in the middle of the POTC ride.

Well, guess I'm going to be the killjoy here. We had reservations for MONTHS. The afternoon that we were to dine, I approached the CM at the front of the restaurant to confirm (again). All seemed well... until we had to wait for over two hours to get in. Not sure what happened, as all reservations were backed up, not just ours. The service was good, the atmosphere is unbeatable for a setting. BUT, the food was cold, the childrens portions were small and my beef was overcooked (it was well done and I asked for rare). My wife refuses to go back... personally, I'd like to give it another chance.

If you don't love the BB, you have no romance left in your heart...it's not about the prices, it's not all about the food, it's about being in the atmosphere of the bayou(the smells/crickets/boats of tourists heading to "dead men tell no tales") and enjoying time with your family/friend. So get your priority seating and slide into the Blue Bayou. Water table, please!

Yes it's expensive, but yes it's worth it! I is as expensive as an off site FINE dinning est. Think of it that way plus your inside flippin pirates! Do priority seating for 11:00 you will get a water table.

We enjoy the BB tremendously. The portions have gotten smaller, no question about that, but the quality is usually quite good. Most of the items we have purchased have been very enjoyable and the themed desserts are wonderfully creative. While it may sound odd, we'll only eat there with a waters edge table. Something about watching guests float buy on little pirate boats, the frogs and crickets, the banjo, it's just pure Disney magic! I'm not sure if they still have the shooting stars on the ceiling, but that was great. Fireflys floating about and best of all, NO MOSQUITOS! We had dinner at Ralph Brennans Jaz Kitchen last week and while the food was good, salad and bread were not included. The BB offers fresh rolls, delicious chilled butter, and the salads are fresh. A better value for the dollar than RBJK. My wife prefers the BB over the club, being that the portions are slightly larger and she prefers the setting. Can't blame her. It's a pretty romantic place.

I recently took my first trip to Disneyland. Being a WDW veteran I knew that I should look into my restraunt choices beforehand. I quickly decided on the Blue Bayou. After securing reservations for lunch a week in advanced we went here not quite sure what we would get. After claiming our reservations we waited an understandable 20 minutes(we asked for waterfront seating). Once seated I was greatly suprised. Our waitress was excellent and despite being a busy day I never felt rushed. Even more suprisingly all the kids were unusually quite throughout the entire restraunt. The food was great with the crb cake appetizer and the gumbo being suberb. I ordered the Monte Christo and it was great! If I ever go back I will eat here again!

If you can't get into Club 33 this is the next best thing. The atmosphere is fantastic and if you are a true disney fan, its great to watch others enjoy POTC while enjoying a great mean. The prices are high, but the portions are big. Your in Disneyland so expect to spend money. And for a place like this its money well spent. Service can be a little rushed at dinner time, but they are more then willing to make up for their mistakes. And remember to relax and don't feel rushed if it takes a little longer to get seated or get your food, you are on vacation after all.

We had dinner reservations for 6:50 Sunday evening. We requested a "water-table" and were not seated until around 7:30. The restaurant was "over-booked" and the kitchen staff could not handle the dinner hour rush. The waiter gave us free crab cakes and apologized repeatedly for the delay in getting our dinners out to us. When we got our food around 8:30, it was luke warm and barely edible. By this time we had long ago lost our appetites. My Prime Rib dinner at $30 was not much better than what you would expect at a Sizzlers Steak House. My girlfriend had the $28 Mahi-Mahi. You knew it was fish because it smelled like fish. My advice...save your money, eat at Downtown Disney or anywhere else. The Blue Bayou definitely does not live up to all of the hype that you hear about it.

Hi. I'm just an ordinary, typical kid that baisically lives in Disneyland. Blue Bayou is my favorite place to eat at Disneyland. It's got a wonderful atmosphere and get this, you're actually on the set of the Walt Disney's famous ride Pirates of the Caribbean! So you can watch the boats set sail for a wonderful adventure through Tortuga and many of the Caribbean hideouts. people of all ages will love eating here. It's very Romantic too. I see couples always coming in and out all the time and why not? It's perfect! A candle light dinner, food beyond compare, and everyone is always upbeat and happy. Sometimes, I like to imagine that I'm a pirate waiting for my crew as I watch other pirates set sail for treasure. Be sure to book your reservation in advance because it would be a miracle to get in that day without one. And here's a helpful hint. Ask your waiter if there is any possible way you could get a seat close to the water so you can watch the exited people or as I like to say,"land lovers" set sail. Say, Hello to Jack Sparrow for me and oh yes, "Dead men tell no tales".

We requested to be seated at waterside...sooo worth not being in the hustle, and bustle. Food was ok, I thought it was going to be better! I think I just built it up though?? Anyways,,,food was served super fast, and waitress was awesome. Drinks never reached 1/2 empty before being refilled. Cute menu for the kids too. Would maybe go back for the ambiance =)

I'd make this a must-do for lunch at least one day. The atmosphere can't be beat. The service was quick and attentive. The food wasn't four-star, but that's not what I expect at Disneyland, and it was fine for what it was.

Just a few reasons why I love this place:

1. I love POTC
2. It's the only place in all of DL and WDW where I have to decide what to get (although the Monte Cristo usually wins out!) Every other place, I usually get the same thing every time.
3. I often go to DL alone, and this is one of the few sit-down places I can go to eat and not feel like I'm being singled out for being by myself. Especially true at the water's edge.

We visited the Blue Bayou at Disneyland on Thursday, October 6, 2005, with a reservation for 6:30 PM. I didn't bother making a telephone reservation before we arrived, but since we got there on a Sunday, we decided to walk over to the restaurant and made a reservation for a Thursday dinner which was OK, but when I reserved it, I neglected to ask for a seat by the water and we were disappointed when we were seated at a 2-diner table way in the back by the kitchen doors.

People were constantly cleaning, sweeping, piling up dirty dishes and serving around us, so it made not only for a noisy dinner but we also felt very rushed. The idea is to have a good meal and feel relaxed in the bayou atmosphere.

Our waitress, Mary, when she arrived at our table, was obviously feeling some pressure. As she was taking our order, it looked like she was having a brain hemorrhage... she squinted and put her hand on her temple (obviously had a bad headache at the time) but that didn't seem to stop her from taking our order. She was very prompt and polite, but again, we felt very rushed to give her the order.

Well, we both ordered the salmon entree and it came before we finished our clam chowder so Mary put it on a serving tray and left it tableside until we were ready. I'd finished my soup so when she saw this, she immediately rushed over and put the salmon in front of me, and pushed my partner's soup bowl out of the way to get the salmon dish on the table, so he was eating on an angle! It was pretty good but kind of tasteless - nothing special really - I've had better salmon. The breaded skin was a bit too spicy for our liking but we kind of filled up on the rice and vegetables that came with it. The clam chowder that came before the meal WAS very pasty as I've read in some other reviews...almost so thick you could hold it in your spoon upside down and it would slowly drip off - also kind of tasteless, and we've both enjoyed better clam chowder.

I think we were in and out of there within half an hour - too quickly to enjoy a meal!

All in all, we spent $53 US dollars on dinner, a bit overtop of what the meal was actually worth. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone during a peak period. It's just too hectic. Maybe during low season and a night with very few guests in the park might be better and so non-rushed. I don't think Walt would have envisioned his restaurant turning into a McDonald's-style eatery.

Comments welcome.

this resturant i have mixed reactions about i mean yeah its great that its a resturant in a ride which is bonus points in its self but the over all dining experience was a meh i mean the food took for days to get out and the table next ours accidently had food dropped all over this lady and the waitor did nothing he just picked up his plates and left the mess for the bus boy to clean up and didnt apologize for what he had done
so if u want over priced food to spill over you feel free to eat there but there are a lot of cheaper places to eat that have better quality

My family can never go to Disneyland without eating at the Blue Bayou. The Monte Cristo is awesome, but I would recommend sharing one order between two people if you're not a big eater. It also makes the cost go down ;) Another thing you must try at least once if you go there is a mint julep. It's a drink kind of like lemonade but with a minty flavor to it also. Very refreshing if it's a hot day.
Also, if you love the food at the Blue Bayou, you should consider writing and asking for recipes. The head chef at the Blue Bayou actually responded back with a nice letter and the recipes requested plus several others. They didn't taste exactly the same, but if you missed Disneyland too much one day and can't go visit for awhile, you could always make one of the recipes to satisfy you for a bit longer.

The Blue Bayou is definitely a memorable experience, and if you have a date/loved one/significant other/etc, this is definitely a great place to go while at Disneyland. Like many have stated the atmosphere is the real star, creating a calm and romantic setting to enjoy a few moments off your feet, and you really do feel immersed in magic. However do be warned, the food is terribly over priced for what it is, and over rated to boot. Mind you it is good, but not great, in fact for the price it’s just passing if anything. The last time I ate there was with my girlfriend and we spent over $50 for the two of use to have dinner: I had an impossibly huge and fatty cut of prime rib over potatoes and she had some kind of chicken pasta thing (also a huge portion). She loved it, I smiled and enjoyed it…thinking in the back of my mind, “Eh, I’ve had better.” I recommend being seated by the water and making reservations early.

I like this restaurant the best in all of Disneyland---the atmosphere is wonderful---and always have their salad with carmelized pecans--yum! the kids will stay still if they can see the boats leaving the dock from the Pirates ride---kiddie menu could be improved--my kids do not care for artificial mashed potatoes.

We eat there whenever we go to Disneyland. We always eat the same thing and that is the fabulous crab cakes.

Being sort of crab cake snobs we always are looking for new recpes for them. Their crab cakes were excellent but what made them outstanding was the sauce. We filled up before dessert by sopping up the sauce with the bread. If we could get a recipe just for that plate-lickin'-good sauce we would be very happy people.

The portions are also very good.

Is it pricey to eat there? Hey, it's Disneyland. What do you expect? McDonalald's?

we went there in mid January 2004. Mid week mid day. The waiter was quite busy, and frankly we felt like we were just a number. he was unable or unwilling to spend any time with us other than appear and disapear. No time for questions about the menu. You had better know what you want when you go in. The prime rib was excellent, but no horseradish available. The monte cristo was tasty but greasy. The atmosphere was fun for the kids. I had a hard time tuning out the kitchen noise. If I had to rate it , The food at Dennys is better, but the atmosphere for kids is fun.

Well, I am a fan of the Blue Bayou. I DO have to save up a little extra for it, but we usually go for lunch, so it's not TOO horrible!
I always ask for a table water-side, and the few minutes extra wait that is inevitable is worth it.
DO make sure to call ahead for a reservation!!!!
Save room for one of their decadent desserts..and they give you a very LARGE portion, so you might want to share one with your sweetheart!

OMG! I had always wanted to eat here but I had heard it was just so expensive (especially since my hubby is the one that pays for the WHOLE trip;my sis',her b/f and me) Well since we saved up a lot of $ this time we made reservations there for the 1st day. I had the Monte Cristo and I fell in love with it. We had water front seating and all and it was amazing. My hubby got some waiters and waitresses to sing Happy B-day to me too. I had to eat there the 2nd day too b/c there was no way I could wait to have the Monte Cristo again. By the way, GREAT SERVICE, they never let out sodas get more then 1/4 empty and they made sure my sister's Chicken and Shrinp Jambalaya had no chicken (since she told them she was allergic). Their great, I can't wait til this Wednesday...YUM!

We had lunch here in June for my birthday((DH And DS's 12 and 16. We reserved a table 30 days in advance for 11:30 am and Ds16 and Dh got there at 11:15 to make sure we had a waterfront table((Thansk SuzieQ and Wendebird for that tip)) Ds12 and I rode the POTC to kill time ..well the ride stalled and we sat across the water looking at Dh and Ds at OUR table eating what looked like wonderful crusty rolls and butter. The ride starts at last and it is the longest POTC ride I ever sat through in 3 something years!!! We rush past the front staff and get to our table...Where my DH hissed.."the waitress was getting antzy". Then magicallly she appeared with the sausage stuffed mushroom appy ((which was wonderful)). I explained to her what had happened and she told me to relax take my time and enjoy my birthday lunch:)

I had the pork loin with scalloped potatos and sauted veggies, Ds16 had the spicy pasta ((or rice))) with sausages and chicken, DH had the spicy chicken caeser, and Ds 12 had the Monte Cristo((which he offered to share after he ate 1/4 of it)). We all shared what we had ordered and I must say we were all happily surprised at the food quality. The pasta sald that came with the Monte Cristo was awsome and I am still triyng to hunt down the recipe. Our waitress bought out a free incrediblly rich (((GOOD))) chocolate mousse and the wait staff and patrons sanh Happy Birthday. It was the best birthday lunch/dinner of my life :) Lunch for us came to 100. with tip.

Food is always good here, but I have always liked it better at lunch than at dinner. Prices are better and food seems better prepared. Service is also better at lunch than at dinner. Definatly worth a visit if only once just to experience eating within an attraction.

Nothing better than a Mardi Gras salad and a Monte Cristo sandwich the first day you arrive.

I was thinking of taking my girlfriend, Ashley here for a wonderful night out! Suppose they take reservations for "special" occasions? But the atmosphere is amazing! What would be even more better is if they turned it into a place like Black Angus or maybe the ChartHouse, where as to add booths in place of tables and chairs. And really make it more apart from the park itself! Then the romantic rating could go from 4 to 10 !!

I love dining here. The service is a bit rushed and sometimes you get stuck at a bad table, however on the times where you are near the water - wow. I always have the portobella mushroom meal.

I love eating here, even with the pricey menu!
The crab cakes are great, and my hubby loves the Monte Cristo Sandwich.
We often do lunch here, as you get nearly the same menu but at about half the price for some items.
Sitting mear the water is a wonderfully relaxing thing to do after a busy Disney kind of day!

Blue Bayou is set in the beautiful bayou of the South. The food is tasty although the price is not cheap, the atmosphere is great. If you are a regular to Disneyland you probably don't eat stop here to eat that often but, if you are visiting Disneyland for the first time or for the first time in a long time this is a great place to get a great meal!

I am almost afraid to go back, because our meal there was so perfect. It could never be that great again. Quick seating by the water - reservations (or whatever Disney calls it) are a most. Beautiful atmosphere with a view of part of our favorite ride. The food is only so-so ... it seemed the same as at the counter service restaurant in New Orleans Square. But is was fine, and the overall effect was terrific. Great job, Disney.

Best seats are near the rail so you can view the water and part of the Pirates ride. You MUST get there for lunch and try the Monte Cristo sandwich with a Mint Julep! Other than those items (and the Creme Brulee), the food is mediocre at best. My daughter likes the atmosphere, but she's 12. Younger kids would be bored.

After going to Disneyland for over 20 years, I finally got to eat at the Blue Bayou as a treat for my parents 40th anniversary. I was kind of wary because of some of the reviews here. But they couldn't have been more wrong! Seated ON TIME! By the water (we asked). WONDERFUL service!! Beautiful atmosphere! The food was very good with great portions! I plan to eat here everytime I go! Thank you Blue Bayou for a wonderful time!!!!

I LOVE this spot. The closer to the water, and the darker the spot, the better. This place not only stirs fond memorits of my childhood....having seen it fromt he boats often enough, but the soft bayou atmosphere at night gets my romantic side to perking. The Prime Rib is to die for... so tender a 99 year old grandmother could eat it without TEETH... and the cheese cake...ohhhhhhh! One of the 3 most romantic places in the park!

What can you say? It is THE place to eat at DLR (unless you have connections and can get into Club 33!!!). The Monte Cristo is an experience unto itself. Ther service is impeccable, and you will never have a better atmosphere for a meal, seated beside Pirates of the Carribean... unless it's in Paris. OK, you'll never have a better atmosphere in SoCal... If you've never done this, you've got to try it at least once.

I've travelled a lot in my short 22 years, but everytime I hit Disneyland, my Dad, my brother and I always make sure to reserve at least two evenings at this restaurant.

Being huge historical fans of pirates, the opportunity to dine in a picturesque "old-fashioned" restaurant that really makes you feel like you're back in the 17th or 18th century is very appealing - quite simply, is there any other restaurant quite like this? I think not.

Food selection is quite good, and quality is indeed very high - I remember seeing that the restaurant had won some very prestigious culinary awards. I've eaten at many places around the world, and while this certainly isn't a $100 a plate French restaurant, it is quite posh and fancy.

Only problem - price. The setting and high quality "fancy" food come with a hefty price tag, and I and my family are from Canada, so our poor dollar isn't able to let us dine there often!

The only thing this restaurant has going for it is atmosphere. It is inside of the first part of the Pirates of the Carribean ride! It is not worth dining there unless you have a waterside seat. The food is ....bad. The gumbo is disgusting. Years ago, they used to serve a great mixed green salad in a giant half clam shell, with honey mustard dressing, but no more. The mint juleps are double the price of other establishments in New Orleans Square. I wouldn't recommend it.

Of all the sit down resturants at Disneyland, this has to be my favorite by far. There is nothing in the world like their Monte Cristo sandwiches. And its beautiful and romantic and a whole different world just sitting by the edge of the waters of pirates, people watching while you enjoy your lunch/dinner. I don't think its really a kids resturaunt. Its a little pricey, but the ambiance would be worth twice what you're paying.

Not the greatest food but really good (usually) and the best food to be had in Disneyland unless you're a Club 33 member. The perpetually twilit bayou-side atmosphere is what sends the whole experience wonderfully over the top. The Monte Cristos, alone, are worth the trip (and the price). Lunch is more affordable than dinner (like what you'd pay in an upmarket big-city diner or moderate restaurant), but water tables are only available to those who reserve when the park opens. Walk-ins get the rear, kitchen- and restroom-side tables. So reserve :-)

My mother, brother and I dined here last August. Our table was located next to the river from Pirates. Our food was pretty standard, not bad, but nothing to really write home about. This eatery is more about atmosophere than anything else. Great atmosphere. Our server was not very courteous. We were constantly asking for drink refills, and she rarely checked on our table. Fun once or twice, but with the cost I'm not sure if I'd always eat here.

The most scenic restaurant inside the park by far!, the luxury of eating beneath the romantic blue sky setting is marvelous. The food itself is the best food you're going to find within the park. If you're fortunate enough, you have the priveledge of being seated beside the river...where oncoming passengers for the pirates of the caribbean ask you to throw you a roll, which adds amusement to your dining experience. Look both ways for onlooking waitors/waitresses...when the coast is clear proceed to throw roll. Aim accurately, and toss your roll while the boat glides forward, so a lucky passenger has the wonderous joy to snack during his pirate adventure!
