The parade was nice and the fireworks were great. They almost overlapped with Tinkerbell. If you didn't know when to look you'd miss her. 40 years of adventure was a better celebration in comparison. Overall, the 45th anniversary celebration is a mixed bag. The fireworks show is the best ever, and some of the merchandise is fun. But the parade is mediocre at best (the "Pomp & Circumstance" music sounds like a dirge, and doesn't remotely convey a sense of celebration). So far, the pin trading has been a disappointment, too -- at least in comparison to what's happening at Disney World. Cast members almost all have only the same 15 pins on their lanyards, day in and day out. They're embarrassed by it, and apologetic -- not excited. Cast members are often ill-informed, and many guests don't seem to know about it. Now, sadly, they're introducing many "new" pins that actually are direct from WDW. The interaction is fun, but the program will die wihout a jump start. They need more new (original!) pins, as well as events to make it work -- pin trading seminars, giveaways, etc. I'm loving the Pin Trading !!! I have been going to DL for many years and never really talked to Cast Members much at all. Now I have a few CM that I really have to talk to every time I go. I seen some family with a young boy last night and they were from out of state and they were doing the "check everyone out that has pins on" thing, and the mom seemed excited for the boy that he was having a good time. The activities taking place are fine, but the perception is that the grandeur of past celebrations is missing. I long for the 30th anniversary celebration. With the exception of the fireworks show, it seems that the anniversary is more about taking from guests(pin trading=$, souvenirs=$) than about celebrating and thanking guests (e.g. givaways). I think what Disneyland is doing for the 45th anniversary is great. Once the rain clears up in So.California, I think the anniversary will be in full swing. Any tips or advise I can give is: get your pins early! I go to the park about once every week or so and they will go fast! Enjoy the firework show, it's unreal! It looks like it was alot of fun, wished i could have been there. While I am really excited to see the new parade, and just spectacular firworks, I think the highlight is the pin trading. Just watching all of the interaction between CM's and guests was wonderful. I can see this becoming the social event of the year. It will take awhile to get used to being stalked for pins. I recentley saw the new fireworks show and it was awesome. Better than any fireworks show that i have seen. As for the parade, i saw a shortened rain version that wasn't so good. When i see the regular version i'll make a better assesment. The "pomp" music is a bit repetetive. I am not sure a new parade and fireworks show will boost attendence this year. without an E-ticket attraction attendence is doomed again It looks great! The only reservation that I have is the music. "Pomp and Circumstance always makes me think of graduating from high school. Letting guests participate in the parade is a marvelous idea, though. Anyone know how to get picked ? :) Well, it looks better than the 40th, however from the other reports that I've read, it sounds like they need to work on the parade a bit (especially if they expect this to carry them through the summer months w/o a separate nighttime parade (e.g. MSEP, Spectromagic, etc.). With no new *major* attractions, plus the continuing construction (inside (Casa Mexicana, Subs, Autopia) and outside (DCA, Dntn Disney, Monorail (1-way rides), etc.) ... it might be another lean year for Anaheim. First class! I think that the entire promotion is great. I love the merchandise. Wish I was there to actually buy it, but seeing these pictures is the next best thing!
