LP Lotion: The Holidays Kick-Off at the Disneyland Resort

The holidays have officially arrived at the Disneyland Resort. Although guests had seen decorations and changes, Monday, November 12 kicked off the season with the lighting of the façade of it’s a small world. On hand for the festivities were Disneyland Ambassador Jolie Hales and Marine Corps Staff Sergeant Mark Plummer and family, along with Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

Disneyland also saw the opening of the Jingle Jangle Jamboree at Big Thunder Ranch in Frontierland, where Santa and Mrs. Claus are joined by Billy Hill and the Holiday Hillbillies. Crafts, games, and special holiday foods are offered at the Jingle Jangle Jamboree. Returning favorites include Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle, the Christmas Fantasy Parade, it’s a small world Holiday, and Haunted Mansion Holiday.

At Disney California Adventure, Cars Land and Buena Vista Street celebrate their first Disneyland Resort holiday season. David Caranci, Manager of Resort Enhancement, along with his team have decorated the new areas for the holidays. Buena Vista Street is adorned with decorations typical of the early 1930s. A 50-foot Christmas tree is trimmed in custom-made ornaments, with toys and packages spread below. An old-fashioned department store Santa is ready to greet the kids at Elias & Company. At the Hollywood Pictures Backlot, the Mad T Party offers wintertime fun. And returning to Paradise Pier is the holiday edition of Phineas and Ferb’s Rockin’ Rollin’ Dance Party. In Cars Land, “Snowy” the snowcar greets guests at the entrance. Along Route 66, custom designs represent the character of each individual resident of Radiator Springs.

The holidays at the Disneyland resort will continue through Three Kings Day, which will be observed January 4-6, 2013. Also known as Dia de los Reyes Magos, the celebation will feature special décor, food, and entertainment that showcase the Latin American holiday tradition.
