Announcement of Five New Acts Rounds Out The Program For "Disney's Rockin' the Bay' Live Music Series
Daily Beginning July 13 At Disney's California Adventure ™

Chubby Checker, Bangles, Three Dog Night, Village People, Kool &The Gang Join Lineup For Music Series Which Begins July 13-14 With The Beach Boys

Five additional acts have been added to round out the lineup for “Disney’s Rockin’ the Bay,” the 42-day music series beginning Saturday, July 13, at Disney's California Adventure park.

The addition of Chubby Checker & The Wildcats, Bangles, Three Dog Night, Village People and Kool & The Gang to the schedule will bring the total “Disney’s Rockin’ the Bay” count to 18 famed recording groups, each one performing for one, two or three days (depending upon the schedule) for two performances per day at the Paradise Bay Stage in Disney's California Adventure.

Legendary “King of the Twist” Chubby Checker will appear August 1, performing such classics as “Twist,” “Let’s Twist Again” and “Pony Time.” August 2 will feature Bangles, the top all-girls band whose smash hits include “Walk Like An Egyptian” and “Eternal Flame.” Three Dog Night, whose Number One singles include “Joy To The World,” “One” and “Mama Told Me Not To Come” will perform August 3.

Village People, the one-of-a-kind team of singer/dancer/entertainers known for their energetic renditions of “YMCA,” “In The Navy” and “Macho Man,” will perform August 9-11. Kool & The Gang, who topped the charts with “Celebration,” “Ladies Night,” “Jungle Boogie” and “Fresh,” will appear August 12-14.

Making a big splash to kick off the inaugural weekend, July 13-14, will be The Beach Boys, phenomenal stars of the California surfin' sound, who are famed for such chart-topping songs as "Surfin USA," "Help Me Rhonda," "Fun, Fun, Fun," "Kokomo" and many others. After The Beach Boys, other July acts include: The Temptations Review featuring Dennis Edwards, famous for their smooth sounds of "My Girl," "Just My Imagination" and "Get Ready;" the rich vocals of David Clayton Thomas with Blood, Sweat & Tears, known for "Spinning Wheel" and "You've Made Me So Very Happy;" and The Commodores' soulful songs of "Three Times A Lady," "Brick House," "Sail On" and "Nightshift."

July also features: the British sound of Herman's Hermits starring Peter Noone, among whose classics are "I'm Henry The Eighth (I Am)," "I'm Into Something Good" and "Mrs. Brown You've Got a Lovely Daughter;" Starship featuring Mickey Thomas, a group that put together a string of #1 hits including "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now," "Sara," "We Built This City" and "No Way Out;" and The 5th Dimension, whose many upbeat vocals are "Up, Up and Away," "Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In," "Wedding Bell Blues" and "Stoned Soul Picnic;" and Paul Revere And The Raiders, a band that amassed an amazing 25 consecutive hit singles including "Kicks" and "Indian Reservation."

Among the artists booked for August are: The Turtles featuring Flo & Eddie, who topped the charts with the memorable "Happy Together," "She'd Rather Be With Me" and "Elenore;" The Buckinghams with their '60s songs "Kind of A Drag," "Don't You Care" and "Hey Baby, They're Playing Our Song;" The Four Tops, whose many soulful melodies include "Reach Out, I'll Be There," "I Can't Help Myself," "Same Old Song" and "Baby I Need Your Loving;" the '70s hits of America, most famous for "Horse With No Name" and "Ventura Highway;" and The Monkees starring Davy Jones and Micky Dolenz, who jumped from television to create such pop classics as "Last Train to Clarksville," "I'm A Believer," "(I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone" and "Daydream Believer."

"These live shows are a wonderful addition to our entertainment offerings this summer, and we believe the lineup we've assembled has tremendous appeal to guests of all ages," said Cynthia Harriss, president of the Disneyland® Resort. The announcement of these additions to “Disney’s Rockin’ the Bay” completes the schedule for the summer-long live music series which launches Saturday and Sunday, July 13 and 14, with appearances by The Beach Boys.
