Organized into various groups by colored wristbands we began our tour of the Disney Studios. We walked, paused briefly by the Hyperion Bungalow and Commissary, then headed toward the Legends Plaza. We were walking along Mickey Avenue. It looked just like it did in the scenes from the Reluctant Dragon. We stopped again for a photo op of the legendary street at the corner of Mickey Avenue and Dopey Drive.

Then once again, "We’re walking. We’re walking" past the Roy O Disney building, the Team Disney building and into the Legends Plaza. As had been reported, Stitch is currently standing in Dopey’s place at the top of the Team Disney Building. In the Legends Plaza we had the opportunity to take pictures of the bronze plaques featuring the handprints of Disney Legends as well as the large statue representation of the Disney Legend Award.

The Disney Legends Award and bronze sculpture has three distinct elements that characterize the contributions made by each talented recipient:

  • The Spiral: Stands for imagination, the power of an idea
  • The Hand: Holds the gifts of skill, discipline and craftsmanship
  • The Wand with a Star: Represents the magic, the spark that is ignited when imagination and skill combine to create a new dream.
