Toon Talk: Pooh's Heffalump Movie

Peter Cullen also returns as Eeyore; the depressed donkey must be a little sore that they skipped over him as the star of the fourth movie ... may I suggest that the inevitable next Pooh movie be titled Eeyore: Is It My Turn Yet?

Toon Talk Rating: B-

Toon Talk Top 10 - Technicolor Pachyderms:

The Heffalumps aren't the only elephantine characters from Disney:

  1. Five years before Dumbo, Elmer Elephant was the star of his own Silly Symphony short, appropriately titled Elmer Elephant (1936).
  2. Pluto isn't too keen on Bobo, Mickey's Elephant, in this 1936 short.
  3. Elephanchine and her fellow ballerinas make a memorable appearance in the Dance of the Hours segment in Fantasia (1940).
  4. A circus full of elephants (including Mrs. Jumbo and her little Jumbo Junior, not to mention all those Pink Elephants on Parade) appears in Dumbo (1941).
  5. The sweet-natured Dolores co-starred in three shorts alongside the likes of Goofy and Donald Duck, beginning with 1945's Tiger Trouble.
  6. Colonel Hathi led his ragtag Jungle Patrol (a "crackerjack brigade) in The Jungle Book (1967).
  7. Eleroo, half-elephant/half-kangaroo, was one of The Wuzzles in the 1985 animated television series.
  8. In the midst of the Vietnam War, Danny Glover leads Operation Dumbo Drop (1995), a special mission involving an elephant named Tai and a very large parachute.
  9. As the George of the Jungle (1997) theme song states: "Elephant Shep can fetch a log/He's man's best friend/he's George's ‘dog'.
  10. One of the ape-man's best friends is the nervous pachyderm Tantor, prone to hypochondria, in Tarzan (1999).
