Walt Disney World

News, Rumors and Events
Has it been a slow summer at WDW? Doesn't seem like to me, but then I've never been here in the summer before, so what do I know? Well, I do know Disney has removed some of the blockout days for Florida season passholders. Instead of running through August 19th the blockout period ended on July 29th.

But apparently they're expecting a busy fall as this year's Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party has been expanded  to 13 nights - October 1, 3, 8, 12, 14, 17, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 29, and 31. Learn more about this annual favorite here.

My favorite rumor site, ScreamScape, tells us Journey to the Center of the Earth (now a favorite at Tokyo DisneySea) may be making its way to Florida soon. Click here for details.

An attraction that's definitely on its way is Stitch's Great Escape,  and Annual Passholders should be getting a preview pretty soon. The official AP website site says to check back in late August for the dates. Rumors are they'll be September with an official opening in October.

Just a plug - the latest Expedition Everest construction photos are available in today's Mini-Update.

As mentioned in the Disneyland section, Who Wants To Be a Millionaire - Play It! will be closing there on August 20th. I've also heard it will be closing at WDW on the same date, but that's not a for sure..

The pavilion with the unpronounceable restaurant will be getting a new film soon. According to Norway's official site (really), they hope to have a new film ready for Norway's 100th birthday next year. They say it's the first time Disney has let someone else produce a film for their parks. Click here for the full story.

Feeling patriotic? Then you're in luck 'cause the American Garden Theater is currently paying tribute to "the songs that have provided emotion, pride and patriotism for generations of Americans". Show times are 4:15, 5:45, 7:00 and 8:15 Wednesday through Sunday through August 29th.

However, if you're feeling all shook up, you'll have to wait a week as Pleasure Island's salute to the King of Rock and Roll (that's Elvis for you youngins) won't run until August 12-14th. By the way, August 14th is also scheduled to be the final day for PI's ungated operation (in case you missed it, right now you can enter Pleasure Island without a ticket. However, a ticket is still required to enter the clubs).

I go to WDW for the food, the hotels and just to hang out, so I'm not one to talk, but apparently some people go to fish, of all things. And apparently there are enough of them for BASS to start a sponsorship. So the next time your in the World you can enjoy a BASS catch-and-release fishing excursion with BASS rods and reels and a BASS-apparel wearing guide and boats adorned with BASS logos. Included with each excursion is a one-year BASS membership and BASS magazine subscription. I'm a vegetarian, so I can't relate, but whenever I see the fishers on the waterways, they always look pretty happy (can't say the same for the fish, though)..

A couple of merchandise events to let you know about: Morning with Harmoney Kingdom at Animal Kingdom on September 13th and a Family Pin Gathering September 10-12.

Rebekah and I went out to see the Tampa Bay Buccaneers training camp at Wide World of Sports last week. That was fun! If you're a football fan and have never been to training camp, go! Camp runs through August 18th with a morning and afternoon practice most days.
