Past Conventions

This will be LaughingPlace.com's third convention. If you've been on the site for a while you've probably seen many of the things we've written about it. Below are just a few of the highlights from the past two conventions. Following that are links to all our NFFC Convention articles.

In describing the creation of a character, Terk animator Mike Surrey first drew a quick sketch of Rosie O'Donnell. He explained that her close set eyes, nose and mouth were part of what helps us identify this sketch as Rosie. Then, overlaying a blank sheet of paper over the sketch of Rosie he then drew Terk, illustrating how he incorporated her identifying features into this character.

And perhaps the highlight of all our convention moments - the Steven Davison "pitch" of Disneyland's "Believe...There's Magic in the Stars". He is currently scheduled to speak at this year's convention. Below is a portion of Rebekah description of the "pitch" which she highlighted in her "Favorite Moments of 2000" edition of Forever Magical

Steven concluded his presentation by becoming the fireworks show. He performed the entire show as he had in the pitch for Disney corporate. His high energy rendition brought everyone in the audience onto their foot with cheers and applause and will always be a very treasured memory. Here is a short clip of Steven performing and the corresponding segment from "Believe...". I apologize that you cannot hear his voice well. I was in the table farthest away from the stage. Although it was a bit disappointing to be that far away I was so excited to be hearing from my Disney heroes, Davison, Greenaway and Dorsey that I couldn’t sit still and ended up pacing throughout all of their talks. And they didn’t disappoint.
