Alice in Paris

A bulb horn with legs looks down at us from his perch high atop the hedge. Around that bend we find the Caterpillar puffing on his hookah. What's down here? Oops. It's a dead end. Over here? Another dead-end.

There's the Cheshire Cat with a signpost that is really no help.

All the while, the Queen of Hearts castle taunts us from a distance. Here are some playing cards. They're painting the roses red. We must be getting close.

Uh oh. It's an unfriendly looking playing card with an axe. Maybe we're getting too close. Suddenly the Queen of Hearts pops up from behind a hedge shouting,, "Off with their heads!" Time to go. Round a few more corners and we finally discover the drawbridge to the castle. It is flanked on either side by playing card guards.

We finally enter the castle and are greeted by a few fun house mirrors. Now, we too have become odd, distorted creatures of Wonderland. As we mount the stairs we notice that everything is heart shaped, including the light fixtures. At the top of the stairs, we step out onto a balcony that over looks the whole of Fantasyland, a magnificent vista. A short flight of steps leads to the turret and an even better view of the surrounding area.

After enjoying the view and snapping dozens of photos, it's time to leave Wonderland for the relative sanity of Fantasyland. The trip to the exit is swift and uneventful. We pause for a moment looking from the Tea Cups to the Labyrinth and feeling much as Alice must have felt when her sister woke her from that dream. Of course, there is one big difference. If we don't mind waiting in line, we can go right back to sleep.
