Alice in Paris

After our whirl on the Mad Hatter's Tea Cups, we stumble unsteadily over to an attraction that is unique to Disneyland Paris, Alice's Curious Labyrinth. Mazes are a very popular form of European entertainment. Alice in Wonderland is a perfect theme for a maze because the heroine spends most of the film wandering around lost. Now we get a chance to see how she felt.

As we approach the attraction, we notice two things straight off. The first is the large floral Cheshire Cat grinning at us from the back of the maze. The second is the towering castle of the Queen of Hearts. The later is at the center of the maze and is our destination.

We enter through the arch and suddenly we are in a short hedge tunnel. When we emerge, a jumble of signs advises us to go this way, that way, over and under all at once. We are in Wonderland and there's no telling what we'll find or whom we'll meet around the next bend.

There is a three-foot high doorway in the hedge. Do we crawl through or try and go around? Let's crawl through. Look. There's the Dodo encouraging his friends to run around in circles. Down this way fountains leap over our heads. The whole place is peppered with the creatures from Tulgy Woods. An owl, with an accordion neck, stares at us from a tree.
