As non-U.S. citizens, we had to clear Immigration and check-in, which was remarkably painless, especially compared with the hell that is affectionately called Immigration at Orlando’s McCoy International. We were given our travel documents and our passports were taken into the custody of the DCL for presentation at the various Ports of Call. Next, it was time to progress to the departure gate and prepare for departure from Port Canaveral. As we moved through the security features of the terminal (whimsically entering into through a Mickey Mouse-shaped portal), we bid farewell to the state of Florida. Our rapid progression through security is testimony to the diligence of the Disney cast members at the terminal who work tirelessly to ensure that the guests’ experiences of the DCL begin the very second they arrive.

We boarded the Disney Magic through Deck 3 Mid-Ship, into the central reception and atrium of the ship. Here, the atrium is three stories high and it is a truly beautiful welcome to the DCL. A cast member announced our arrival (rather embarrassingly for us!) over the ship’s intercom as we were beckoned onto the ship for our maiden voyage aboard the Magic.
