Did You Apply for the First Disney Moms Panel?

Kay Belin, Indiana She applied last year and made it to the 3rd round.

Jo Young, England She wanted to apply last year but thought about the questions too long and by the time she was ready, the application window had closed

Diane Luba, Connecticut She was encouraged to apply last year but by the time she did, the application window was closed

Doug Ingersoll, Indiana He did not apply first year. He heard about this panel while on treadmill listening to the WDW Radio podcast. The second it opened, he got in.

Their Disney Specialty

Jo Young, England She will be able to specialize in questions with particular European concerns.

Diane Luba, Connectict: Transportation, recreation and Hidden Mickeys

Kay Belin, Indiana: Specialty celebrations. But she notes "you don't need a reason to celebrate, coming to Disney is a celebration"

Whitney Pickering, Miss: She has 4 kids so handling that. Also staying at Ft. Wilderness

Tanya McNally, New Jersey: Little children and child safety (tips: labels on kids back If Im lost, t-shirts, Sharpie on the arm, luggage tag on the belt loop). She notes: My husband wont let them dress in the same outfit anymore

Doug Ingersoll, Indiana 2 things 1) Help parents understand what a great vacation it will be for them. If you have a better time, your kids are going to have a better time knowing youre having a good time 2) Restaurant and resort selection based on budget and based on personal preference. He's dined at all of them. He adds that he's done a lot of business trips with expense accounts so he's taken people he works with to some of the nicer places. He tells them Let me take you to California Grill. Let me explain the concept behind Pork with Polenta.' First they say Oh no, here comes Disney Doug again then after the meal they say oh thank you. its the best meal Ive ever had in my life'.

So what are his favorites? The top of the Contemporary is my favorite. He notes I get a little disappointed in myself because I very rarely veer off that one entre (pork with polenta). Also, he dearly loves Whispering Canyons. As for resorts, he's a traditionalist - the Polynesian. The Wilderness Lodge is a close second, but theres something about the Monorail and something about being there that "takes me back to how many times as a child I got to stay there

To Sum It Up

Margaret Fries, Illinois: "I Feel very honored. Dont know what other word to use."

Doug Ingersoll, Indiana: "I'm now personal friends with Mickey in daughters eyes."

Finally, I had the opportunity to do a short video interview with Laura Spence, Disney's new manager of social media and, prior to that, a member of the inaugural Disney Moms panel about the program.
