The exhibit feels like you are in S.H.I.E.L.D. (Supreme Headquarters International Espionage Law-enforcement Division) with the models available for posing, and CPUs showing the statistics of the heroes and heroines. This is essentially a waiting room for the 4D movie, but the figures and exhibits are a lot of fun.

The Spiderman display allows you to pose as if you are also on the ceiling with the web-swinging reporter. There is also a photo opportunity for flying past Big Ben

The Wolverine Attractions lets you pose with Adamantium claws (sadly the Hugh Jackman Wolverine was missing on this visit)

Susan Storm as modelled by Jessica Alba proved very popular with the boys. Thinking ahead, Madame Tussauds have ensured her zip stays in place.

Nick Fury as modelled by Samuel L. Jackson was very cool

Iron Man proved for many to be the real star exhibit however

And there is an opportunity for younger guests to post with Iron Man's heart, too.

After visiting the exhibits, guests are then led into the main dome for the 9 minute film. The action wraps 360 degrees around the room and completely overhead. However the main film action is still largely in front of viewers. To the left and right are displays that bring up vital statistics about the heroes and villains as they appear in the film. Without giving away too much, the plot focuses on the Heroes going to Buckingham Palace to receive an award in recognition for their services. However, in a theme park fashion, it all goes wrong and they end up in a mighty battle with huge robots attacking London and a fight to save one of the worlds great cities. The animation is fairly good quality, the story took 30 draft scripts, used more than 1,000 reference photographs and required 13,000 hours of CGI animation time. Also Stan Lee makes a cameo appearance as well, which adds gravitas to the experience.

In theatre effects have been used to enhance the experience of Spideys web slinging, Hulks massive impact, Wolverines claws and the effect of Iron Mans flights. Capt. America may be missing from the exhibits out front but he is here to whet our appetite for his upcoming film outing, and Dr. Doom of course is here to add to the fun. It is a lot of fun too. It was so well received by the audience; there were applause at the end before people exited through the well stocked souvenir store. Even as a seasoned veteran of theme experiences and 4D films, this was a solid outing and well worth fighting the crowds to enjoy. Would I be willing to pay full price for the experience or sacrifice the great cultural sights of London? Probably not. But if one is planning on seeing Madame Tussauds and combining it with the London Eye, the Aquarium and/or the London Dungeons (as I had earlier that day), then there are some good deals to be had and the Marvel 4D attraction is worthwhile.

So the future; is yet to be written. There are 4.5 more years of Tussauds and Marvel working together, and if this is a sign of things to come, the future looks very bright indeed. And as for Disney, will the X factor come in to create something great or will it become dark and foreboding missing a wonderful opportunity. I am optimistic, but as Spidermans Uncle Ben Parker once said With great power comes great responsibility. I hope the mouse wields it as well as Merlin seems to be. Excelsior!
