Disney Finalizes Deal with Four Seasons to Anchor New Luxury Resort - (DL) (8/25/2008)
Walt Disney World Co. has finalized the sale of 298 acres of land to Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts for a hotel and golf course that will anchor the new luxury resort announced last year as part of an expansion of Walt Disney World Resort. “This is an important milestone for a project that will enable our company and our community to further tap into the luxury travel market,” said Meg Crofton, president of Walt Disney World Resort. “Working together for the first time, Walt Disney World Resort and Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts will create a world-class family resort destination that offers the exceptional service and amenities and one-of-a-kind guest experiences that are the hallmark of both our brands.”

Disneyland Half Marathon Runners Travel a Through Disneyland Resort Aug 29-31 - (DL) (8/25/2008)
The Disneyland Resort is celebrating health, fitness and family fun with more than 18,000 participants who registered for the third annual Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend, August 29-31. The highlight of the weekend is a 13.1 mile event affectionately dubbed “The Happiest Race on Earth.” Participants in the Disneyland Half Marathon will travel a course unlike any half marathon in the world. It passes through the two Disneyland Resort theme parks – Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure – and it’s full of Disney inspiration with flaming cannons at the start, live entertainers all along the route, and Disney characters as cheerleaders. Many of the participants will be dressed like their favorite Disney characters, including Minnie Mouse and Tinker Bell, and some even stop mid-race to pose with Mickey Mouse and his pals for photos commemorating both the race and Disney Parks’ ongoing Year of a Million Dreams celebration.

A big hit for Disney when it first came out, this new interactive version has been customized with on-screen lyrics for every song so that a whole new generation of kids (as well as some older kids trapped in adult bodies) can sing along. Hosts Laurie Bushman and Leigh Crow will introduce each performance and warm up the audiences’ vocal cords. In addition, audience members will receive a free "goody bag" and are encouraged to add to the fun by dressing up as a favorite character from the film, with prizes to be awarded for the best costumes at each performance.

USA Teams to Compete for ‘Culinary Olympics’ Spots at Walt Disney World Resort - (DL) (8/18/2008)
Culinary greats will put their spatulas to the test in an elaborate cook-off Sept. 26-27 – during the opening weekend of the 13th annual Epcot International Food & Wine Festival – in a quest to represent the United States at the prestigious Bocuse d’Or World Cuisine Contest. Eight two-person teams will turn up the heat in the kitchen at Walt Disney World Resort in the hope their culinary creations land them a top spot representing Team USA at the Bocuse d’Or World Cuisine Contest – commonly called the “Culinary Olympics” – in Lyon, France, in January 2009.

Tickets for 2008 Old Spice Classic Go On Sale - (DL) (8/18/2008)
Tickets for the third annual Old Spice Classic will go on sale Friday, Aug. 15, at 10 a.m. ET. The 2008 Old Spice Classic will be held on Thanksgiving weekend at the Milk House at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex near Orlando, Fla. The 2008 Old Spice Classic field includes eight teams: Georgetown, Gonzaga, Maryland, Michigan State, Oklahoma State, Siena, Tennessee and Wichita State. Seven of those eight teams qualified for postseason play in 2007-08, including five in the NCAA Tournament and two in the Sweet 16.
