National Thanksgiving Turkey "Going to Disneyland!" To Celebrate Presidential Pardon - (DL) (11/26/2008)
The National Thanksgiving Turkey will really have something to celebrate following today's traditional Presidential pardon ceremony in the White House Rose Garden. "Pumpkin" and his alternate "Pecan" are going to Disneyland! It starts with a police escort to Dulles International Airport. Then the birds will "fly" First-Class on United Airlines Flight Turkey-1 to their new home at Disneyland Resort in Southern California. Microsoft Research and Disney•Pixar’s WALL•E Explore the Real Universe - (DL) (11/25/2008)
Microsoft Research teamed up with Disney•Pixar to create a virtual tour of the universe hosted by none other than WALL•E, the animated robot from Disney•Pixar’s latest film, “WALL•E,” which is available in stores today on DVD and Blu-ray Disc. Anyone with a computer and an Internet connection can take the tour and view the universe from WALL•E’s perspective by visiting www.worldwidetelescope.org. A teaser for the tour can also be seen on the DVD and Blu-ray Disc.

NASA Invites Students to Name New Mars Rover - (DL) (11/25/2008)
NASA is looking for the right stuff, or in this case, the right name for the next Mars rover. NASA, in cooperation with Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures' movie WALL-E from Pixar Animation Studios, will conduct a naming contest for its car-sized Mars Science Laboratory rover that is scheduled for launch in 2009.

Pirates of the Caribbean Online In-Game Thanksgiving Event and Contest Announced - (DL) (11/25/2008)
Disney Online has announced the 1st Annual Pirates of the Caribbean Online Founders Feast, a special in-game event held for players in celebration of Thanksgiving.  A Limited Edition in-game item will be awarded to players surrounding the event. TCM Presents: The Family Classics With All-New Original Special and Nostalgic Holiday Festival - (DL) (11/24/2008)
Turner Classic Movies (TCM) is set to conjure up some pure movie magic this December, when the network debuts TCM PRESENTS: THE FAMILY CLASSICS. The festivities will include Sunday movie showcases featuring more than 25 Disney live-action classics, plus an all-new original documentary entitled THE AGE OF BELIEVING: THE DISNEY LIVE-ACTION CLASSICS, to be narrated by Tony winner and three-time Oscar nominee Angela Lansbury. The showcases will begin each Sunday at noon and feature such films as 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954), Freaky Friday (1976), The Parent Trap (1961), The Love Bug (1968), Treasure Island (1950), The Shaggy Dog (1959) and Swiss Family Robinson (1960), as well as Bedknobs and Broomsticks (1971), which stars Lansbury.

Walt Disney World Christmas Day Parade Celebrates Its 25th Year on Dec 25 Telecast - (DL) (11/24/2008)
For 25 years, children of all ages have unwrapped the magic of Disney on Christmas day on ABC. This year the Emmy Award-winning "Walt Disney World Christmas Day Parade" celebrates its silver anniversary with a two-hour television extravaganza. The special, hosted by Regis Philbin, Kelly Ripa (co-hosts of "Live with Regis & Kelly") and Ryan Seacrest ("Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve 2009 with Ryan Seacrest"), will air Thursday, December 25 (10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., ET and 9:00-11:00 a.m., CT, MT, PT; check local listings) on the ABC Television Network. Hollywood's biggest names and Disney's most beloved characters will bring the holiday magic home in song and style as they light up the holiday from Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and Disneyland Resort in California.

Disney and JCB Launch Disney-JCB Card, Japan's First Disney-branded Credit Card - (DL) (11/24/2008)
The Walt Disney Company (Japan) Ltd. (the Walt Disney Japan), a global leader in the entertainment business, and JCB Co., Ltd. (JCB), a pioneer of Japan's credit card business and brand holder of Japan's only international credit card brand, have teamed up to develop and issue Japan's first Disney-branded credit card, the Disney-JCB Card. Applications for the card will be accepted starting Tuesday, November 18.


Bolt Across America Cross-Country Journey Culminates at Red Carpet Premiere of "Bolt" 16 week tour visits 32 cities, raising awareness for the movie and for the ASPCA - (DL) (11/21/2008)
Bolt Across America kicked off in New York City on July 25, 2008, with an event featuring Miley Cyrus, who provides the voice of Penny in the animated comedy adventure “Bolt.” The Bolt Across America cross-country journey raised awareness for the film, which opened nationwide on November 21, and for the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®), the nation’s leading animal welfare organization. The tour hit 32 cities nationwide, including Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Chicago, Denver, Phoenix, Las Vegas, and Seattle, among others, and culminated in a roll down the red carpet at the film’s Hollywood premiere Monday, November 17, 2008.

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts broke ground for its first family destination resort in Hawai‘i today with a traditional Hawaiian blessing ceremony on its 21-acre oceanfront property, located at the Ko Olina Resort & Marina development on the western side of O‘ahu. Scheduled to open in 2011, the new family friendly destination will overlook breathtaking crystal blue lagoons and white sand beaches and is planned to include 350 hotel rooms and 480 Disney Vacation Club timeshare villas.

Disney's New Five-Picture Deal With IMAX to Begin With 'A Christmas Carol' - (DL) (11/20/2008)
Disney's "A Christmas Carol," the spectacular 3D 2009 holiday release from director Robert Zemeckis and starring Jim Carrey, will be the first film from The Walt Disney Studios slated for IMAX(R) theatres under a new five-picture arrangement the studio reached with IMAX Corporation, it was announced today by Mark Zoradi, president, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Group. Disney's "A Christmas Carol" will lead off an impressive slate of upcoming films from the Studio and a roster of top filmmakers that may include director Tim Burton as well as producer Jerry Bruckheimer. This arrangement makes some of the Studio's most highly anticipated theatrical releases from November 2009 and beyond available to IMAX venues across the country and around the world.

Beauty and the Beast to be released in 3D in 2010 - (DL) (11/20/2008)
Further demonstrating its commitment to quality 3-D motion picture entertainment, The Walt Disney Studios has begun re-rendering its Oscar(R)-winning animated favorite, "Beauty and the Beast," in preparation for its Disney Digital 3-D(TM) debut on the big screen in 2010, it was announced today by Mark Zoradi, president, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Group. The announcement was made today in Singapore at 3DX: 3D Film and Entertainment Technology Festival, the industry's first conference devoted to the latest advances in 3-D technology and exhibition. The addition of "Beauty and the Beast" to its schedule brings the total number of Disney Digital 3-D releases to 11 for 2009-10.
