Disneynature announced today that its “See ‘OCEANS,’ Save Oceans” campaign will protect more than 35,000 acres of coral reef in The Bahamas on behalf of the moviegoers who came out to see Disneynature’s motion picture “Oceans” during its opening week. Through the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund, Disneynature will help establish new marine protected areas through The Nature Conservancy’s Adopt a Coral Reef program. At 55 square miles, this protected area of coral reefs will be almost two-and-a-half times the size of Manhattan or the equivalent of more than 412 Disneylands, supporting the expansion of the Westside National Park of Andros.
Disney and the GRAMMY Foundation to Auction Hand-Painted String Basses for Music Education - (DL) (4/30/2010)
To commemorate the 25th Anniversary of Disney Magic Music Days, Disney Youth Programs at Walt Disney World Resort, the GRAMMY Foundation and Conn-Selmer, Inc. are donating five unique hand-painted string basses at auction on June 26, 2010. A patron of the performing arts, Disney Magic Music Days has showcased performances of more than 30,000 student musical groups from all over the world at Disney theme parks since the program’s inception in 1975.
Disneyland Resort Reaches Agreement with Craft Maintenance Council - (DL) (4/28/2010)
Disneyland Resort and its Craft Maintenance Council are pleased to announce that they have reached a five-year collective bargaining agreement. The agreement was negotiated in just over a month and was ratified by an overwhelming margin. It marks the first time in more than two decades that Craft Maintenance Council members approved such an agreement on the first vote.

When the “Main Street Electrical Parade” returns to Magic Kingdom for a limited engagement this summer, the cherished Disney nighttime spectacle will have a new glow. Tinker Bell will sprinkle her pixie dust to illuminate the classic parade. The parade’s highly recognizable musical theme will be brightened by new technology. The parade, which normally is featured at Disneyland Resort in California, was last at Walt Disney World Resort from 1999 into 2001. But as it returns to Magic Kingdom to headline “Summer Nightastic!” June 6 through Aug. 14, 2010, “Main Street Electrical Parade” will be showcasing lots of features never before seen – or heard – in Florida.

Disney Channel has ordered a third season of its Emmy Award-winning Playhouse Disney series, "Imagination Movers," starring New Orleans' favorite alternative rock band for preschoolers. The season will also include the first-ever concert special. The Movers will continue to produce their music-filled programs in New Orleans and have announced a new album highlighting songs from the second season of "Imagination Movers" nationwide will hit shelves June 8. Carolwood Foundation Offers Fun Opportunity to Preserve Disney Railroad History - (DL) (4/1/2010)
This Memorial Day weekend, have fun and help save an original piece of Disney railroad history: Walt Disney's combine car that circled Disneyland when it first opened in 1955. The non-profit Carolwood Foundation is holding a once-in-a-lifetime rail trip to benefit the purchase and restoration of the combine car.
Over the weekend, a limited number of guests will board a private railcar at Union Station in Los Angeles. They will take a trip up the spectacular California coast, dine on meals prepared en route, experience a visit to the Walt Disney Family Museum, and enjoy presentations by Disney Legend Bob Gurr, noted historian and author Michael Broggie, animator John Kimball (son of Disney Legend Ward Kimball), and Imagineer Ray Spencer, who is currently leading the creation of the Red Car Line at Disney's California Adventure.

As part of its ongoing strategy to provide original creative content where and how consumers want it, Disney will offer applications from all of its businesses on the new Apple iPad. The ABC Player app extends the reach of ABC.com’s full episode player onto the iPad. iPad users will have the ability to watch free, ad-supported episodes from approximately 20 popular ABC series through a wi-fi connection. The application will also allow iPad users to purchase downloads of episodes via the iTunes store. The ABC iPad app brings the full experience of ABC.com’s Emmy Award-winning full episode player to a touch-screen, handheld device for the first time. Additionally, the ABC.com site is now optimized for the iPad, complete with full-functionality for all its features, including short-form video.
