James Franco & Anne Hathaway To Host 83rd Annual Academy Awards - (DL) (11/29/2010)

James Franco and Anne Hathaway will serve as co-hosts of the 83rd Academy Awards®, Oscar telecast producers Bruce Cohen and Don Mischer announced today. Both have previously appeared on the telecast but not in hosting capacities.

The Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2010 will be presented on Sunday, February 27, 2011, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center, and televised live on the ABC Television Network. The Oscar presentation also will be televised live in more than 200 countries worldwide



Disney, Gowalla Deliver the Magic of Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World Resort, In a New Way - (DL) (11/23/2010)

In its first foray into location services, Disney Parks has teamed up with Gowalla – the social network that inspires people to keep up with friends and share the places they go – to provide park-goers a new way to explore the magic of Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts.  Starting today, visitors to these parks can engage with family and friends around the world through the custom Disney Gowalla pages and Passport Stamps, and track their experiences at Disney like never before.
 
“Gowalla is the perfect complement to the park visit by rewarding guests with exclusive digital stamps, and by suggesting new ways to explore the parks with fun trip itineraries,” said Leslie Ferraro, executive vice president, Global Marketing for Disney Destinations.  “We are excited to work with Gowalla to enhance the check-in experience for our guests.  As we encourage our guests to make memories at Disney parks, Gowalla is a great way for them to share their Disney memories as they happen.”

Time Warner Cable announces Disney Family Movies On Demand channel will offer over 10 Disney movie titles each month as well as special footage and film shorts to digital cable subscribers. Disney Family Movies On Demand will also join the cable company's Time Warner Cable Movie Pass.



Disney on Broadway Announces "Worry-Free Winter 2011" Unprecedented Ticket Exchange Policy - (DL) (11/19/2010)

Thomas Schumacher, producer and president Disney Theatrical Productions announced their new unprecendeted policy that will enable Disney on Broadway ticketholders (from now until March 10, 2011) - in advance, without penalty and for any reason whatsoever - to change the date they see the show, until noon on the day of the performance shown on their tickets. “People have busy lives and need more flexibility when the unexpected happens and plans change.  We recognize the time is right to reduce restrictions and put more power in the hands of the customer, so now our Mary Poppins and The Lion King ticketholders can change plans just as they can change airline and hotel reservations,” said David Schrader, executive vice president and managing director of Disney Theatrical Productions.

Tickets can be exchanged at the original point of purchase via Ticketmaster (phone, web, outlets) or in-person at the respective show box offices (Minskoff and New Amsterdam Theatres).  This service is available only to Disney on Broadway customers.

Daft Punk Songs Headline TRON: Evolution Video Game - (DL) (11/17/2010)

Iconic and critically acclaimed French duo Daft Punk, who created the music score for Walt Disney Pictures’ highly anticipated upcoming film “TRON: Legacy,” provided two of their tracks from the film for TRON: Evolution, the video game for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Games for Windows - LIVE. Disney Interactive Studios announced today the inclusion of two Daft Punk tracks in the game -- “Derezzed” and “The Grid” -- along with music from composers Sascha Dikiciyan, Cris Velasco and Kevin Manthei.

John J Nicoletti Named VP of Communications for Disneyland Resort - (DL) (11/2/2010)

John J. Nicoletti has been appointed vice president of communications for the Disneyland Resort effective Nov. 1, 2010.

In this new role, Nicoletti will lead the Resort’s communication functions, including media relations, external and internal communications, guest and executive communications. He will serve as a top spokesperson for the Resort, and will be responsible for growing relationships with news media and other external stakeholders. Nicoletti will report to Lisa Haines, vice president of public affairs.

“John’s extensive communications experience, coupled with his vast knowledge of the city of Anaheim and the Orange County area, our parks and resorts business and The Walt Disney Company make him a great fit for this role,” said Haines. “I am excited to work with John again – and welcome him back to Anaheim, especially during such an exciting time of growth for the Resort.”
