Frozen Fun at the Disneyland Resort

The magic of ‘Frozen’ has made its way to the Disneyland Resort. ‘Frozen Fun’ gives you the chance to take a step into Arendelle, where Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Olaf, and more of your favorite characters live. There is so much to do and see that it is possible to see it all with the help of Fastpass. Yes, Fastpass is basically a must to see everything. I obtained three Fastpasses: one for the Sing-Along, one for the Anna and Elsa Meet & Greet, and one for the Royal Theatre show at Disneyland.

The first thing I was able to experience was “For The First Time In Forever – A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration.” This takes place inside the Crown Jewel Theatre of Arendelle, formerly where Muppet*Vision 3D played. Two Arendellian storytellers, Aria and Eric, are your hosts and lead the festivities. Aria is the led storyteller, and Eric is the apprentice. He wants to become an Arendelle historian, and part of the story focuses on this. But as the sing-along begins, Anna and Aria pinky swear on a secret. Anna, Kristoff, and Elsa make appearances throughout the show, as they share some of the film’s most memorable song. In case you don’t remember the words, and trust me the kids know the words by heart, they appear on the screen. Just follow the magical bouncing snowflake! The story is told in a fast pace, but that’s okay, because the focus of the show is on the songs. And don’t be afraid to sing along! It makes your experience more fun, and you feel as if you are a part of the story. In case you’re wondering, Eric does become an official Arendelle storyteller/historian.

After the sing-along, I made my way to Disneyland for the “Frozen” show at the Royal Theatre. “Tangled” and “Beauty and the Beast” have been featured at the Royal Theatre since it debuted in 2013, but are currently on hiatus. Mr. Smythe and Mr. Jones remain as hosts of the Royal Theatre, and also play supporting characters. Anna and Elsa take part in the show as well, helping to tell their story. Yes, the show is fast-paced, but thanks to the comedic timing of Mr. Smythe and Mr. Jones, the show is very enjoyable. I noticed that most of the audience was very into the show. This is something that I didn’t see much of with the previous shows. It also might have to do with the fact that “Frozen” is a cultural phenomenon. Who knows? But whatever you do, make sure the show at the Royal Theatre is a top priority.

Okay. So the sing-along and Royal Theatre show are very enjoyable. Now time to focus on the meet and greet. I’m not much of a character meet and greeter, but when I’m about to meet Anna and Elsa for only the second time ever, I knew it had to be special. (I would have said “for the first time in forever,” but I digress.) I waited until my 4:30pmFastpass was valid, and made my way to the queue for the meet and greet. Once in line, it took about 15 minutes before I got to greet Anna and Elsa. They were very gracious, and loved the blue shirt I happened to be wearing. Blue is their favorite color, so it was almost perfect. The first time I met them was at a special event on Disneyland’s 59th birthday in July. I also happened to wear a blue shirt that day, and they said the same thing. Gotta love the consistency there! They had asked me what I did, and I told them that I saw their sing-along and their show at the Royal Theatre, and that now I was visiting them in person. They thanked me for being a very grateful visitor to Arendelle. Then it was picture time. My pose was kind of silly, but it worked. I then departed the meet and greet, and thus concluded my “Frozen Fun” day.

“Frozen Fun” continues daily through May 15 at the Disneyland Resort. Be sure to pick up a Times Guide at both parks for the latest show schedules.
