This item was the last of the five of Don "Ducky" Williams’s originals offered for auction. It’s another piece that was created as an exclusive for the Cast members at WDW. The publicity for this item also came with a little something from Disney legal, "TARZAN® owned by Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc., and used by permission. TARZAN® 1999 Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc., and Disney Enterprises, Inc. All Rights Reserved." Such is the art marketplace.

The Celebration Mickey didn’t even get a bid, but this nearly 5-foot-tall plush Mickey by Steif went to a good home. This was also a spirited auction as the bid price went above it’s high estimate. There were two or three moments of real excitement in this year’s auction, this was one of them.

Another "experience" up for bid. For the highest bidder, they and two friends would receive a personal tour of Walt Disney's office in the lobby of The Walt Disney Story Featuring Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln by Dave Smith, Director of the Walt Disney Archives on the morning of Saturday, September 8, 2001. It’s a very cool experience as I’ve been fortunate enough to have been given a tour of the space on one occasion and was amazed by the array of personal items that can’t be seen behind the glass.

lot #64 Autopia - Blue
Just about any one of us could have ridden the Autopia highway in this car - maybe we did - that’s what’s great about being able to own it - a genuine piece of Disneyland history could be yours to park in your very own driveway. I wonder if it’s legal to drive to the store in such a cool convertible? As with the Jolly Trolley, it came with the warning from Disney legal to consult the Haz-Mat folks before making any modifications to the vehicle. Ride vehicles have a long history with the ODC auction and this car sold for about $2,000 less than the last Autopia vehicle offered for sale.

lot #65 Mickey Corner Glass Doors
We all probably walked through these doors - I can’t count the times I did - it’s getting hard to remember where Mickey’s Corner was - but I think of it every time I walk into the Rainforest Café. History is a funny thing - and owning a piece of it can be a tricky proposition. Are these doors technically "collectable"? Sure. But compared to what? When there is only one of a thing it becomes a rarity - or maybe an oddity. That’s when it’s time to collect with your heart and bypass the technicalities.
