KaBOOM! with Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Searches for America’s Most Playful Family

Kids, parents, grandparents, guardians, families of all kinds – KABOOM! may very well be looking for you as the organization is in pursuit of America’s Most Playful Family! Do you have play dates? Participate in sports? Hike together? Play at the nearby park or playground? KaBOOM!, the national non-profit dedicated to ensuring that all children get the balance of active play they need to become healthy and successful adults, wants to see how you stay active and have fun together!

Cartwheel, sprint or flip your way into the contest by capturing photos and stories that showcase activities and play. Families are asked to share them online in the hopes of being named America’s Most Playful Family, in a contest made possible by the support of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. The first round of entries will be received between January 28 and March 16. The second round will begin April 1, with 50 semi-finalists recording a video on why their family is the most lively of them all. The grand prize winner, to be announced in May, will receive a trip for four to one of the most playful places on earth, Walt Disney World® Resort or Disneyland® Resort, and be named America’s Most Playful Family.

“We know that kids learn the fundamentals of a balanced, active life at home, with parents,” says KaBOOM! CEO and Founder Darell Hammond. “With support from our friends at Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, we want to recognize families who strive to lead by example, and instill the message that play matters – not just as an activity for kids, but as an activity for the family, too. We hope that through this contest, more families will be inspired to engage in active play, together.”

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts supports the search for America’s Most Playful Family as part of its longstanding commitment to non-profit organizations that serve children and families. On Tuesday, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts brought dozens of non-profits from across America to the Disneyland Resort for “Discover Together,” a two-day symposium focused on how adults can make a difference in children’s lives by spending meaningful time with them. Disney offered training, free of charge, that will help the non-profits share best practices and leverage the tools provided to create even stronger programs of their own.
