Measles Cases Tied to Disneyland Reaches 70

The AP is reporting that the number of measles cases tied to the Disneyland Resort have reached 70. Those affected range from 7 months to 70 years old. A quarter of those struck with the illness had to be hospitalized. The majority of the sick had not been vaccinated. Disneyland Resorts spokeswoman Suzi Brown said officials agreed with the advice that “it’s absolutely safe to visit if you’re vaccinated.”

According to the report, “Measles can spread by air through coughing or sneezing. Symptoms include fever followed by cough, runny nose and a blotchy rash. Though the virus has been eradicated in the U.S. since 2000, it can still enter the country through an infected traveler.”
