China's New Year Celebration
February 4th through 6th the China pavilion at Epcot celebrated the Chinese New Year 4698, the year of the dragon. Below are several pictures from the celebration. The dragon handlers were very agile and would even do a maneuver like jump-rope with the dragon. One of the best parts was when they wound the dragon up real tight, that is how they would finish the dance. The music was traditional sounding music - cymbals and such. The fireworks had the same type of music, but were shot off of the top of the China pavilion - right next to the temple. It wasn't from a backstage area, but right there with the people. It was a simple, short display, but it was very interesting to see fireworks coming off the building.
