In an exclusive this morning, Hollywood Reporter writes that actress Gong Li will be joining the cast of Disney’s live-action Mulan and martial arts expert turned actor, Jet Li is final talks for a role in the film. This exclusive follows yesterday’s announcement that Rogue One‘s Donnie Yen has joined the cast as Commander Tung. According to THR, Gong Li will play a powerful witch as the film’s main villain—a completely new take from the animated version’s Hun leader, Shan Yu,—with Jet Li in final talks to play the Emperor.
The film will be directed by Niki Caro and is set to release on March 27, 2020.
