Kenversations: Expanding Holiday Season at Disneyland Park

It should be noted that neither the Small World nor the Haunted Mansion overlays would have been possible and successful if the attractions didn't have their expensive infrastructure – large show buildings, good ride systems, extensive sets, animated characters, and all of the lighting, audio, and electricity that goes with those things.

The pyrotechnics-snow-light show, "Believe... In Holiday Magic", was added in 2000 as a special version of the popular pyro show from that year's 45th anniversary observance.

Given this extensive transformation of the park during the holidays, it is natural to have a DVD that captures all of this seasonal wonder. This leads me to…

Ken Reviews:

Window to the Magic Presents
"Holiday Time at Disneyland"
Purchase at The Laughing Place Store

Note: This is a fan-created DVD. This was not created by Disney

The video for this DVD was shot during the 2005 holiday season, as the 50th anniversary decorations and golden Mickey ears guests are wearing indicate. The trimmings are appropriate – Sleeping Beauty Castle and the Haunted Mansion, both with their holiday overlays, are depicted on Christmas tree ornaments on the front cover, where some of the text uses the Disneyland Gothic font.

The disc itself has Disney characters and performers in holiday costumes, with a white background.

The menu features the same images as the front and back cover of the case – only more clearly. There's the castle, the mansion, the toy soldiers, and the Small World Holiday façade. The music that loops during the menu is an instrumental version of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas".

The menu choices are:

  • Deck the Halls
  • Christmas Fantasy Parade
  • Small World Holiday
  • Haunted Mansion Holiday

The Candlelight Procession is not offered, but more glaringly absent is the pyrotechnics show. Apparently the video for this DVD was shot on one of the many nights that the show was cancelled due to inclement (windy) weather. Still, the DVD does deliver what the back cover promises. Nowhere does the packaging state, imply, or even hint that pyro show is on the DVD.
