Walt Disney World Sued Over Tipped Worker Minimum Wage

According to the Orlando Sentinel, a former Walt Disney World server is suing the company because of the duties they had to perform while receiving a lower minimum wage. In Florida businesses can pay workers who receive tips a minimum wage of $5.03 an hour if they spend no more than 20% of their work doing untipped jobs. Otherwise the state’s minimum wage is $8.05 a hour.

Alexandra Dumitrescu, who worked at Cape May Cafe and The Wave… of American Flavors, says those locations did not meet that requirement. She is represented Robert Parsons whose other clients include Jasmin Sandoval who is suing Disney over the same issue.

Disney did not have a comment regarding this new case but Sentinel reports that it did deny the alligations in Sandoval’s case.
