While Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway was announced at the D23 Expo 2017 in Anaheim, at D23 Expo Japan 2018 we learned that the attraction will open in 2019. This means it will open the same year as Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
The first ever ride-through attraction themed to Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse is replacing The Great Movie Ride at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will feature a new original story and lovable theme song, as it takes guests on a journey inside the wacky and unpredictable world of Disney Channel’s Emmy Award-winning “Mickey Mouse” cartoon shorts. New technologies will transform the two-dimensional cartoon world into an incredible multi-dimensional experience.
The new attraction is part of the major reinvention of Disney’s Hollywood Studios which also includes the opening of Toy Story Land in the summer of 2018.
