User ID: ryanbalas Thrill: 3 Theme: 4 Overall: 4 (3/6/2008)I have always loved this production. Even with the changes after first release (dynamite scene). It gives you a quick breakdown of how CA has changed over the years. The final song is very touching and worth multiple views!

Nice little film, that was much more ambitious before it was hampered by budget cuts. Worth seeing if you have time.

What a great little movie. It makes me choke up every time I see it. Okay! It makes me cry! Are you happy now? If you like history, you won't want to miss this.

I loved it. It is worth seeing over and over again, because I never knew that California was like that so long ago, I don't even live there ,so I came to apperciate it more and more.

I liked it. The rumor is that this was originally planned to be like Disney World's "American Adventure." That was the rumor and That is what I understood it to be. I wished it would have been like that ,but it wasn't ,but I still like it anyway. It is worth seeing again and again.

Though there are a few historical inaccuracies, it's still an experience not to be missed.

The rumor is that this was originally planned to be like Disney World's "American Adventure." Audio-animatronics of some California legends would have made this attraction a classic. As a movie about California, it is interesting and entertaining, but Disney is capable of doing so much more.

This was a pretty good attraction.
The use of the "haunted mansion" type of projected face was excellent.
The film itself was a little bit of a downer, but the end was OK.

OK...if you've been to Epcot, you probably have seen The American Adventure. Now, take out the animatronics in Amercian Adventure, decrease the size of the theater, leave the filmed parts of American Adventure but theme them to California...and you get Golden Dreams. But, it is very touching. Too bad the San Fransico houses don't have stores. It could have a very "New Orleans Square" feeling...

Great presentation, but the title?? "Golden Dreams" conjures up more than Disney anticipated, I'm guessing.

this movie made me appeciate california 10 thousand times more.

Why not completely depress people who come to a theme park to leave reality? If this doesn't do that job then I am not sure what this show is good for.

this movie made me cry

I rate this a 2. It's a pretty good presentation on California's history in razor sharp 70mm film. A definite "must see" on your first visit. Don't expect an "American Adventure" (EPCOT) type experience. The budget was severely cut on what was suppose to be a grand multi-media presentation in a revolving carousel theater like CoP. You get a projection of Whoopie on two statues as the film's hostess: Califia. But the effects stop there. Because it is simply nothing more than a film, I don't find much reason to make multiple visits.

Captures the spirit of California and her people. A must see. Would have been better with animatronics (oh well)
User ID: Irishman4000 Thrill: Unrated Theme: Unrated Overall: 2 (4/1/2001)
The plot was corny and seemed fake and if you have taken US history you already know what they are talking about.

Dome is meant to be recreation of Palace of Fine Arts from 1915 Panama Pacific Exposition in San Francisco. Needs more detail to match original. Movie was well done, not too PC and almost too much Whoopi...

This is a very enjoyable film, especially when you need to take a break from walking and the heat. It is also a refreshing break from the typical fantasy entertainment in the park. Whoopi Goldberg also does a great job as host of the film. It is also very touching, and I learned a lot about the history of California.

The exterior is terrific. The opening Califia effect is cute and the film is touching, as well as having some amusing moments of lightness (in particular, I liked the Apple references).

Not too bad.

Excellent film...as an Asian-American, I was very pleased to see such an emphasis on the minorities that have shaped this state. A very moving and worthwhile attraction.

We saw it twice! I loved this movie (especially the two Mac references), and it brought a tear to my eye, which rarely happens anymore. I, for one, loved Whoopi. I'd see it again and again.
User ID: DisneylandMoose Thrill: Unrated Theme: Unrated Overall: 1 (2/18/2001)
If I wanted to see the history of California, I can watch it on PBS at home. This attraction if you can call it a attraction doesn't belong at a Disney amusement Park. I hated this attraction and will never see it again! It was a complete waste of time!
User ID: dlport Thrill: Unrated Theme: Unrated Overall: 2 (2/17/2001)
Not the PC-indoctrination I was expeciting, but it also lacked the flair and "wow" factor of other similar Disney presentations. If it had just a little bit more of "something" I would rate it a LOT higher, because the film itself is of high quality.
User ID: carolann8 Thrill: Unrated Theme: Unrated Overall: 4 (2/6/2001)
I loved this! The effects were very good, and the movie was well done. Cried during parts.

This film made me cry...it was absolutely wonderful. I saw it twice at the AP Preview! Is that Heather Headley singing the end song?
User ID: Brer Rabbit Thrill: Unrated Theme: Unrated Overall: 3 (2/4/2001)
A very informative, and at some points moving film. Well done for the most part, although some sequences were aimed more towards the older age group, and won't make sense to a younger audience.
User ID: KarenW2 Thrill: Unrated Theme: Unrated Overall: 3 (2/2/2001)
An interesting film, despite the hokey Whoopi Goldberg character showing up in each scene. Very touching ending.
User ID: Gregmh4886 Thrill: Unrated Theme: Unrated Overall: 4 (2/2/2001)
A great movies that explains the entire history of California. Oppresive parents should watch out though as it shows some of the not-so-great parts of the history as well, such as a Chinese father and son etting blown up while building the railroad, and a young Japanese woman getting fruit thrown at here when she comes to California. While this movie was great, I will probably only see it a few more times as it does not change at all and only features a few theater effects.
User ID: Weezy Thrill: Unrated Theme: Unrated Overall: 4 (2/2/2001)
A wonderful film of California's History and a welcome change from the physical comedic films in the park.
