Hopping aboard for the grand circle tour is my favorite way to say hello to Disneyland.

Me and a group of my four friends went to DL in May and we were very thankful for this ride! Even though we are teenagers, we had a ball riding the train around and around to take a break from the big rides. We had fun playing truth-or-dare, and having two of us get off the train and try to get to the next depot before the train got there. :)

This is one of the best attractions you can find on Main Street since it has the Grand Canyon and Primeval World. This ride is a wonderful way to get around Disneyland

I love the train! especially the dinosaur part.

Very charming and original I think. Of course, I think everything in Disneyland is wonderful.

I love steam trains but I rate this a three for one reason: The dinosaurs between Tomorrowland and Main Street Station need repairs. They hardly move now. I checked old home movies and confirmed that they did in fact move a lot at one time. Not so anymore.

You should say its good for LITTLE kids.

This is one of those rare dont miss rides that people can ride all day long like at Magic Kingdom some fat lazy ladies refused to move so I had to climb over them in Frontierland.

As a young adult, this ride is boring. but if you are real tired for the day and want to rest up for a bit then this is the perfect ride to just relax while still feel you're doing something productive around disneyland.

User ID: brer_rabbit91   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 3 (9/5/2005)
This Disneyland classic is a calm and relaxing sanctuary from the hustle and bustle guests often face at Disneyland. Although the grand-circle tour is the full experience, most of that experience is from Tomorrowland to Main Street USA. From MSUSA-New Orleans Square is not much, but the New Orleans Square Station is nice to look at while other passengers are loading/unloading. NOS-MTT is an amazing view for the Rivers of America and the wildlife/Native Americans that surround it. Plus, it's great to go through Splash Mountain and watch a bunch of ex-America Singers telling you that everything is satisfactuall (however that's spelled). MTT-TL is great at first (who wouldn't love to go through iasw?) but loses its fun unless the Monorail goes near you. From TL-MSUSA, you are indoors most of the excursion. First you see a gorgeous diorama of the Grand Canyon (with the Grand Canyon music in the background), then the captivating Primeval World, which gets better with every viewing. This ride is great for those with tired legs and great patience.

*Remember - you get a much better experience if you're facing inside the park instead of forward.

The DLRR has always been an automatic favorite of my family. During our last trip in august my wife prompted me to ask the conducter if we could ride up front with the puller and the firer. There is a seat for 2 persons, so my 3 year old son and I got a ride that I will never forget. If you get the chance I highly recomend it and tell Ron and Royce hi. They are two of the nicest CMs that you can meat.

The Disneyland Railroad is the perfect introduction to a perfect vacation at the Disneyland Resort. Some people find the technology boring and uninteresting, but it is one of my personal favorites at the park. From when you first board the train to Small World, from the Primieval World to the Splash Mountain glimpses, this is pure Disney magic at its best.

Just for the record Disneyland Railroad is a cool ride and all but they could liven it up with a few hills and fast turns and have some areas that show How Disneyland used to look as well. Still a cool ride

User ID: fzzybddy   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 4 (7/18/2003)
It easily beats out WDW. The dioramas in the tunnel prior to Main Street Station make it the best.

User ID: Brer Puck   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 4 (7/9/2003)
Sheer Disney nostalgia at it's best, as you enter the park you see before you Disneyland Railroad. At that precise moment it hits you, you're at Disneyland. Incredible view of the park itself while on board, and the Grand Canyon, Primeval World diorama is fun, not to mention a small glimpse inside Splash Mountain as well. Highly recommend!

User ID: Brer Doug   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 4 (7/1/2003)
I often enjoy this wonderful ride due mainly to the Dinosaurs and the Grand Canyon Dioramas and the fact that I dont have to get out and walk. this is also a great way to enjoy the sights. My best experience was when I am able to sleep during the 20 minute round trip. Once we went and half of our group fell asleep I was also almost asleep but my Little Brother kept on waking me up showing me kids in Mickey Mouse hats and whatnot it really upset me to have him bug me.

User ID: jenn-d   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 4 (6/6/2003)

User ID: MAGNUM   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 4 (5/5/2003)

This is what I like to during the middle of the day at Disneyland. The Primeval World, although hokey compared to the rest of the animatronics in the park, is still amusing. Bonus if you're on the E.P. Ripley: the first train in the park, previously owned by Walt himself.

User ID: Blue_Corsair   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 3 (3/4/2003)
I love trains of any kind, so I'm a little biased. Nonetheless, if this is your first trip, take a full ride around the park - great way to get to know the place.

When I was younger, this was the last thing I wanted to do. There was always so much more exciting stuff to do. Now that I'm a little older, I guess you could say I appriciate it more. It's a lovely, calming ride when you just need time to wind down and rest your feet.

User ID: rargirl   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 4 (2/7/2003)
I love the Disneyland Railroad! Everytime I visit Disneyland, I have to ride it at least once, several times if my husband and friends let me! It makes me feel so nostalgic. I remember riding it as a little girl. I have always loved it. I remember when it was turned into "Mickey's Birthdayland Express". That year, my mom let me ride it many times! We still remember the Mickey's Birthdayland Express song. Sometimes I request her to sing it for me.

OK, this may sound odd, but sometimes when I catch a wiff of disel it reminds me of the DL train. Great transport ride, and sometimes we would ride clear around once and then one station further just to rest tired feet.

I look forward each time I go to DISNEYLAND to riding the train that Walt loved. It gives me a chance to enjoy an over all look at the park, sit back and relax and do some day dreaming about other great times I have had with my family at DISNEYLAND. I remember one day many years ago while riding the train both of my daughters said to us that one day they were going to work here. Both have completed college and are now working in the DCA building and having a great time. I will sometime ride it three or more times around and have a leisurely journey.

User ID: JenniBarra   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 3 (2/24/2001)
What's great about the railroad is that you can use to get somewhere, but you can also just take a leisurely journey around the park. Sometimes, I ride one whole circuit, just to take it all in, and then go partway around again to get to my planned destination.

The Walt Disney Railroad
is, in my opinion, the most
nostalgic attraction in
Disneyland Park. I'm a
HUGE DL Park fan and am
always very interested in
learning history of the
kindom. Walt's passion for
railroads and American
history was very deep.
Both of these are recognized
on a real 19th/early 20th
century Main Street. The
train station here is in
the early 20th century. As
a Guest in Walt's park, you
have the magical ability to
board a steam train (That
seems to be headed across
the US) during the early
1900's.
As soon as the trip begins,
you are transported to
various time periods. From
the early 1900's to a New
Orleans of more then 150
years ago... From traveling
forward to a futuristic
world in Tomorrowland to becoming living
cartoons in Toontown, one can literally
call this not only a
railroad, but a 15 minute
trip through America's
past.

User ID: SirLamer   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 2 (9/1/2000)
This is a great way to get around the park (new orleans to toon town is faster by train if the lines aren't bad.) You might think a train can hold a lot of people, but it seems that very few people actually get off, so the line is longer than it looks. Keep that in mind if you're planning to take the train in order to save time. Also, remember that the train goes around the park in a clockwise direction, so taking it from main street to tomorrowland probably would take longer than it would to walk it.

Since this is a Main Street Attraction I'll just comment on the Station: The new color scheme, and additional fabrication give this station a big boost. It reminds me of Discoveryland's style of a future from an 1870s point of view.

It's relaxing, and I love just having some "quiet time" as I ride around the park and people watch. The cast members are nothing but friendly. I love the smell of the steam engine, love the sound of the bell as the train pulls into the station with the echoing "Your attention please..." speil. And of course, Thurl Ravenscroft's narration is just soothing and comforting.

The Disneyland Railroad is so enjoyable for me! It is a nice quiet relaxing ride when you are very tired!

User ID: PLUTO9   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 4 (5/14/2000)
Love the ride, but the animals in the Grand Canyon Diorama are in need of some new hide!

Walt's personal legacy of steam-powered railroading at DL remains one of the durable reminders of his footprints on our hearts.

User ID: oldgoofy   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 4 (4/24/2000)
The train is very relaxing and tradition. Each time I ride the train I think of Walt and his love of trains.

Very warm, and relaxing. Just right after a hectic day running to the rides. Not really ever long lines. The best thing is thecast never makes you get off of it. Good for taking home movies, as the scenary is beautiful!

Dinos need updating to appear more like the latest scientific theory (physical appearance and movement)

User ID: voxs   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 4 (4/24/2000)
A Great way to relax! Sit back and experience what travel was.
Disney is preserving the past with these steam wonders!! It's not a trip to the park unless I get on board and ride the rails !!

User ID: ToonKirby   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 3 (4/24/2000)
A Disneyland tradition .. very nostalgic, especially if your familiar with Walt's love of trains.

User ID: cmckeown   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 3 (4/24/2000)
Love the train, but could do without the Dinosaurs!

User ID: cwmmdizney   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 4 (4/24/2000)
its so nice to have a rest and get to just about where ever you need to get to. its the coolest way to get around the perimeter of the park.

User ID: spamspam   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 4 (4/24/2000)
The Railroad is a great place to simultaneously be a participant and a spectator of the park.

User ID: CheshireCat   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 2 (4/24/2000)
needs alittle updatind, but still a good way to get around after walking all day. and a nice thing just to ride around on when you get tired of stuff.

User ID: tweedle jason   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 3 (4/24/2000)
Provides a relaxing orientation to the park, and as a bonus you can see the historic Primeval World set originally created for the 1964 New York World's Fair.

User ID: StarTourist   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 4 (4/24/2000)
You can relax, and see the park from a different point of view! Love the dinosaurs with "issues" at the end of Primeval World!

User ID: sjdimon   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 4 (4/24/2000)
Love the train! Especially the "panoramic" tour of the park that it provides. Also love the Dioramas and the "paradox" of the Train in "The world of Tomorrow!"

User ID: Ursula   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 4 (4/24/2000)
Best way to get around the Park, just avoid the Toon Town station.

User ID: disneyland buff   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 3 (4/24/2000)
The train is one of the first things we do when we get to the park. It's a nice ride to see everything, and get you excited about your day at Disneyland.

It's a nice ride around the park!

User ID: Gregmh48   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 3 (3/30/2000)
This ride is fun for your first time, but after that it becomes pretty boring because there is not much more to see. I still ride it as park tradition every time, though.

User ID: Tigger   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 3 (3/18/2000)
It is nice to relax on the train after a day of walking.

User ID: jdog49   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 4 (3/17/2000)

User ID: stevemalibu   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 4 (3/15/2000)
The gentle rolling and swaying of the Disneyland Railroad. It's a relaxing way to rest my weary feet for a while.

User ID: oldgoofy   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 4 (3/15/2000)
It's great to take a break and just ride around the park a few times.

I love the railroad. Such an enchanting ride around the park and a quick way to get around.

User ID: Disneygirl   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 3 (3/14/2000)
This is a great way to get from one end of the park to another when your feet just can't take another step!! Although I use a motorized scooter, when my husband's feet are killing him, this is his favorite way to get to the front of the park!

User ID: Linus   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 4 (3/8/2000)
This gives a great way to see the whole park and sit down. It rules.

User ID: GroovShel   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 3 (2/11/2000)
I really love this ride because its very simple. I love the old station design and the atmosphere all around them.

It's boring to wait for, but it's a good way to relax, and has cool scenery

User ID: Jennifer Frosty   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 3 (1/20/2000)
a good attraction when you need some time to rest your feet. i spend one very tired evening on the train for almost 2 hours. see something different every time, and if it's not busy, they let you stay as long as you like.

User ID: arizonawildcat   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 2 (1/17/2000)
Good way to get from Toontown back to Main Street or New Orleans Square

User ID: damon63   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 3 (1/16/2000)
One of the park's few original attractions with a great history! Primieval World and The Grand Canyon are looking a little dated these days.

User ID: disneyfreak4099   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 3 (1/16/2000)
Nice and Relaxing

User ID: arizonawildcat   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 1 (1/9/2000)

User ID: DL-2000   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 3 (1/8/2000)
The D-land Railroad offers a really neat look of Disneyland. It is especially fun seeing the backwoods of Frontierland.

User ID: GroovShel   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 3 (1/8/2000)
I like it because it's not just a train. It's a ride it has the dinosaur and the Grand Caynon part. And its really nice to ride on to get from one place to another when you're really hot.

User ID: KAT   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 3 (1/8/2000)
Once-and-a-half around the Park is very relaxing on a busy day.

User ID: ni_teach   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 3 (1/6/2000)
When your feet are tired. This is the only way to get around.

User ID: TPA_RickWest   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 3 (1/3/2000)
A true Disneyland original; one of the last "Walt" attractions at the Park. Never get tired of the Disneyland Railroad!

User ID: Karma Boy   Thrill: Unrated  Theme: Unrated  Overall: 2 (1/1/2000)
The Railroad is a great place to take a break from the action. Also, You can take a round trip on the Engine if you board at Main Street. Just ask if you can ride with the Engineers. However, you can't always do this.
