This has been one of my favorite rides since I was 10 years old. I am now 40 and being able to ride this with my 11 and 13 year old kids was great. They love the ride as much as I did at their age.

I have been a huge fan of Space Mountain since i first rode the coaster in 1981. Space Mountain got me out of the fear of the coaster. Now when i come to Disney World this is the first ride i go on

Love it, love it, love it, LOVE IT! I had not been on this ride for eighteen years and when I entered the loading bay for the coaster cars, I felt like I had stepped into a time warp to childhood. While I realized right away that the effects were not as amazing, the ride itself was still enjoyable and the sheer fear and excitement on my daughter's face brought back wonderful memories.

While I usually HATE roller coasters, this one is great for almost anyone. It's dark so you cannot always see where you're going, but it really feels more like most carnival coasters. Really! And yes, watch your head getting on. Those bars are killers. My teenage brother clocked his head on one in 1978, started crying, and onlookers thought it was because he was scared of the ride. (He loved it.)

This roller coaster beats DL's by a landslide! DL's is only turns and someone is sitting next to you. WDW's is single seat wich would be more like a rocket, and it has drops AND turns.

Has anyone been be-headed on this ride? Like my head comes dangerously close to hitting a few of those crossbars. Still the best roller coaster in all of disney world, including RNR.

I gave it a 3, it's close to a 4 but in the end it's just a mightymouse coaster in pitch black darkness heh. I can't understand how LP rated it a 4/4 but only gave PotC a 3/4...oh well it's definately fun and a not to miss!

OK. Space Mountain is a MALOR ( and i mean major) roller coaster. IT would have o tie as my favorite ride in all of the Magic Kingdom (sorry but it ties with Splash MOuntain. can you blame me?) BUt it does winthe title of best dark ride. Hats off to Disney for this one.

A staple of Tomorrowland. The dark makes the ride seem faster than it is, which is a good thing. Just dont make this your child's first rollercoaster ride. It was my brother's first at 5 and now he wont go on any at the age of 16.

This is another typical Disney experience, and one which most people think of (that I know) when discussing their visit. A trademark ride, it is enjoyable for both it's theming and thrills, though one or two aspects could be improved upon. It is alot less violent then the Paris version, but being in the dark adds to the sensation of a much more thrilling attraction. One thing that will surprise most people is how low the metal beams are, so it's not always wise to raise your arms! Overall, a fun roller-coaster ride with excellent theming and funnily enough, not always a long line!

For a ride built in the 1970's, it's still extremely popular, with two hour lines. However, the ride should be updated with newer technology, like they are doing for the California version.

Good ride to do BEFORE you eat anything. The first time I rode it I had a bad experience, because I had just had a burger and fries. Get a Fast Pass for this one. You'll love the feeling when you get to blow right past the people that are waiting 2 hours for it.

It's Space Mountain! What else is there to say. Just don't jump into the ball pit thats in the entrance cue line. Many cast members have made that mistake and realized it's not as deep as you think ;-)

Divided, really. Defintely a "4" rating on the "left" track...the "right" track gets a "3" (in my humble opinion!) This was my "stress-reduction" after a hard day in Guest Relations (and believe me...Guest Relations could be quite a challenge at times!!) I'd hop on Space Mountain (left track, usually...) at the end of the day and ride my cares away!

It isn't the same layout.But, I will admit it needs a BIG REHAB!Music could really make this ride atleast equal. However, the track designs I like much more, and what difference is 2 mph. gonna make?I just don't like how SM DL has 17 right turns, and very few left turns.

and the original name for space mountain was space port and walt derew the first hand drawings of the ride for disneyland but his passing brought the ride to wdw faster

although i do! know that space mountain opend at wdw first walts original plain was for it to always to open at disneyland but at the time walt thought of it, the technology to build the ride did not exist yet.it was another woker that wanted to put a rollercoaster at wdw and theay wanted tou build the matterhorn bobsleds. but theay thought it would be imposible to clone the mountain itself. so... theay took the SAME track desighn and the same cars and built the first space mountain i do admit that it is fun but disneyland's in my eyes is just better for a lot of reasons and disneyland's even goes faster than wdw's!!

And by the way, I love the 1 across seating.This isn't a rip off, and Walt worked some on it himself.This ride's a gem, and unlike DL's, it's not just 1 large turn to the right.And I assure you, the two tracks are mirrored, but not rip offs of the Matterhorn.All it needs in the music, and it could beat DL's.Who cares it DL's takes your picture?Lots of coasters do.WE HAVE THE ORIGINAL SM.Now, let's compare RnRC to CS. ;) lol, that's easy.

Actaully, I find this ride great.I've been on so many other coasters, and I find this one of the most fun.It would beat DL's if it had a sound system, though.It defenantly needs a facelift, but the track design alone is better then DL's, and it's no clone of the Matterhorn. im sorry but i have to say this...space mountain at disneyland is waaaaaaaaaay better! it has side by side seating and has an onboard sountrack by Dick Dale oh and the one at disneyland takes your photo!! dont waist your time on the WDW model of space mountain because it is just a cheap rip off of disneylands matterhorn bobsleds

Deserves a 4 because it's such a Dsney Classic, but as far as roller coasters go this is VERY tame. It's actually not very dark in the ride, and there are no big drops. It's still a must see, though, you can't go to the MK and not ride Space Mountain.

Great coaster but the feeling that the supports are too close to you makes you a bit uneasy and takes away from the ride for me.

You have to do it once if you've never been on it, but Disney has slowed it down and made it brighter inside over the years. It's just not half the ride it use to be, but still worth the trip.

This attraction has been a great favorite over the years but it really is time to give it a major rehab. European visitors will be particularly disappointed when comparing it to the state-of-the art DL Paris version.

Timeless ... been riding every year since 1989 and always get the same adrenaline rush and thrill. Does not need anything. Should be left just the way it is when it first opened!

Oh my gawd! They've killed Space Mountain! The original in Anaheim is one of the best coasters anywhere. This one is slow and so light you can see the track, which is SO not the point.

A fun and different Space Mountain than Disneyland's. It felt like a dark version of the Matterhorn to me. The queue and post show at WDW is vastly superior to Disneyland, however the ride itself pales quite a bit. If they could smooth out the track, add onboard sound, and improve the special effects, WDW would have a revitalized 21st century coaster. Still worth a ride though, especially with Fastpass.

The world's biggest Space Mountain is easily the most exciting ride at this Magic Kingdom. Not quite as thrilling as some of the others, but a fun nontheless.

The queue area is much more enjoyable than Disneyland's and the theming a tad better. I would like the ride itself much better if it was darker, Disneyland's is much darker and scarier as well.

A great Disney Classic (once you make it through this massive queue area - sheesh) that is full of surprises. Disneyland regulars however, will miss the soundtrack as WDW's Space Mountain does not yet have any onboard sound.
