Mardi Gras at Pleasure Island

mgras19.jpg (6932 bytes)

From March 3 - 7 Pleasure Island celebrated Mardi Gras. The theme was "Viva Las Vegas" and this was carried out with the floats that made up the Mardi Gras parade. The floats represented the different resorts in Las Vegas. Each float was made to look like a giant headdress on a show girl and each headdress had the name of a Las Vegas hotel along with some buildings or signs from that particular hotel. Some of the hotels represented were: Sahara, Excalibur, Flamingo and Caesar's. All of the drivers, passengers and showgirls tossed out doubloons, beads and cups into the crowd. Stilt walkers and jugglers are also were in the parade.

Special food for the event included Blackened Grouper Sandwich with Cajun Slaw and Shrimp & Grawfish Jambalaya with Andouille Sausage.
