Disney-MGM Studios

Disney-MGM Studios
The Studios hours have been changed to 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. with Fantasmic! showing nightly at 6:30 p.m. The Hunchback of Notre Dame show is closed Thursday and Fridays and the Beauty and the Beast Show is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Several attractions have staggered hours like The Backlot Tour which opens at 10:00 am. and Who Wants to be A Millionaire - Play It! opening at 11:00 a.m. The easiest way to think about this is attractions towards the back of the park open later in the morning (most between 9:15 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.). Disney expects that the majority of guests rush to Tower of Terror and Rock n’ Roller Coaster and by the time you finish those up the rest of the park is open. The BackStage Pass Walking Tour above the Soundstages has been closed but on the bright side the Studios is the centerpiece of the 100 Years of Magic Celebration.

One Man's Dream

How to enjoy the Disney-MGM Studios: You will want to visit the Studios on Sunday, Wednesdays or Saturdays if you want to see both Hunchback and Beauty. Walt Disney: One Man’s Dream is perhaps one of the best new attractions at WDW in a long time. It is a great mix of Disney history and Walt’s life and is worth a visit to the Studio. With reduced attendance you can usually get a seat at Fantasmic! as late as 30 minutes before show time (better than the 90+ minutes from the summer). The Disney Stars and Motor Car Parade takes place daily at 3:00 p.m. and is a cute parade with lots of characters, but I can do without the play by play from Streetmosphere. The change in hours probably does not have much effect on the guests experience. There is plenty to do and if you plan it, you should be able to see most of the park in one day.
